I love my Internet family but this is a thread of people I know in real life that you should follow. I'm going to start with Jasmine Golphin @WTMpresents who is a filmmaker in Cleveland and does super dope work and has helped some of my greatest visions come to life on screen.
My sister-in-law @RachelTravi is finishing her Ph.D. in Public Policy & International Affairs. Super thoughtful and smart woman. Love talking to her and she's the best sister. Highly recommend following her for information and engaging in discussions about current events.
Obviously, the husband @MrScienceMaven but his only social media account is the one I linked and he only uses the account to make fun of me. So, he's just a giant enigma to you lmao but at least he's funny, so if you think I'm funny, you'll probably love his page, too.
My makeup artist @gbemsabiola is a fantastic makeup artist. She's behind my wedding looks and most of my headshots. You guys always are complimenting me on her work. You should check out her page and YouTube channel as well! She gives tutorials on there :)
My photographer @yrblanc does great work and is super passionate about his craft and is the person behind the camera in most of my headshots. I don't think he's very active on Twitter, mostly Instagram.
I'd like to say that @elizcolucci is the Director of Fellowships and Scholarships at @UBuffalo and my experience as a doctoral student would be SO much different had I not met her. She is an incredibly strong advocate for students, including me!
I can't find my advisor here on Twitter but she is Noemi Waight and definitely will be writing an essay on how amazing she is when I graduate in a few months! If I write it today, she is probably going to yell at me that I need to write the dissertation instead lol

As a scientist with a transgender parent, I need you to SIT DOWN. You don't know the science OR the history. You trust the science? Science draws a difference between sex at birth and gender identity. The systematic institutionalization of gender is a product of colonization. 1/
Whether you agree or not, the actual fact is that gender has existed on a spectrum and accepted that way within Indigenous cultures for thousands of years. This two-gender system has been forced on people through colonization, used to divide and conquer 2/ publicseminar.org/2018/07/gender…
There is so much scientific research done drawing lines between sex at birth and gender identity done by endocrinologists, psychologists, all the -ologists. According to science, your little sign is wrong. I invite subject experts in this area to join the thread and speak on this
I don't know how much more clear I need to make this, but please do not email Black women for free DEI work for your organization. Don't do it. Especially not to me. Pay us handsomely or get out of our emails.
If y'all EVER feel like you need a Black woman's opinion on your DEI work you MUST have a budget to compensate for the emotional labor and the time that goes into the process. Asking for free emotional labor and time to solve your organizational problems with DEI is offensive.
Don't ask to "pick our brains" in a "quick meeting"... particularly if we literally have never met and have no relationship. THAT IS A CONSULTATION. You should be asking what our consulting fee is. This is not a game. Its hard work and you're coming to us because we're valuable.
In an article about how artificial intelligence (AI) bias can negatively impact humans, this is the top comment. Bias from humans about the person's hair. Look at these comments and then keep reading the thread. 1/
My followers already know how passionate I am about breaking visual stereotypes of what people in STEM look like. To see it so plainly put like this (of course, by people behind anonymous accounts) really shines a light on what we are up against still in 2021. 3/
In school we used to make up fake AAVE and use that instead because we knew they’d appropriate literally anything we said as soon as we said it out loud in the classroom 😂😂😂 had the school sounding CRAZY 😂😂😂😂
They’d be like “yeah its super swag surfy today, my dude” and ask us for high five lmaoooooooo
Oh when Crank That Soulja Boy came out and all they tried to force all the Black people to teach them the dance when we just wanted to do our schoolwork and be left alone. Half of us didn’t know it anyways. Eventually we just gave up and started teaching them the wrong steps 😭😭
