In 2002, CrossFit published a hierarchy of fitness.

It's been foundational to its rapid growth of 5 million athletes and 14,000 gyms worldwide.

But the hierarchy is missing something. Image
The hierarchy was initially published in an iconic publication in the CrossFit world called "What is Fitness?"

The publication defines Fitness in 100 words that can be broken into 5 areas.

1. Nutrition
2. Metabolic Conditioning
3. Gymnastics
4. Weightlifting & Throwing
5. Sport Image
The high-level logic behind the hierarchy is as follows:

1 - Dial in your nutrition.

You can't out-train a poor diet.

2 - Improve your metabolic conditioning.

Without a strong cardiovascular base, it's difficult to improve other areas of fitness.

Most tech bros shit on management consulting.

But it's the best place to start your career.

(just as long as you're equipped with the right info)

Here is what I would tell myself if I was just getting started:
In a 1992 lecture at MIT, Steve Jobs asks the class:

"How many of you are from consulting?"

* Half the class raises their hand *

"Oh, that's bad!" Jobs says.

Tell us how you really feel Steve!
I think Jobs makes some fair points.

But consulting is more than "making recommendations."

Here are 16 lessons learned from two years in management consulting:

sleep improvement hack:

avoid eating 3 hours before bedtime.
for the past few months, my sleep has suffered.

so i’ve been experimenting with different habits each week to improve it.

well, i think i found the issue:

i was eating dinner too late.
last night, i had my last meal at 6 PM.

i was in bed by 9 PM.

the result?

i woke up with an 87/100 readiness score and 82/100 sleep score.

those are my highest numbers since first getting my @ouraring ring back in February.

Most entrepreneurs suck at getting enough sleep.

Here are 7 sleep tips to accelerate your career, startup, or business:
Entrepreneurs often wear sleep deprivation as a badge of honor.

But it's nothing to be proud of.

Sacrificing sleep will kill you over a long enough time horizon.

Here's how to improve your sleep (that might save your life and business):
1. Create A Consistent Sleep Schedule

Your body wants to align itself with sunrise and sunset.

For most people, this is unrealistic.

We have commitments after the sun goes down that force us to stay awake.

But that's alright.

We can do the next best thing!

Two entrepreneurs host a pajama party.

Together, they'd change how the world sleeps.

Here is the story behind the sleep tech startup tackling the $30B sleep industry:
1/ @m_franceschetti grew up in Italy.

As a kid, he was a competitive ski racer and tennis player.

He was obsessed with optimizing his performance.

But two things held him back.
@m_franceschetti 2/ Injuries and fatigue.

When Franceschetti was 10, he got into a big ski accident.

When he was ~16, he had two knee surgeries.

He quit ski racing and tennis and started racing cars.

He spent his weekends whizzing around a track at 180 mph.
