In 2002, CrossFit published a hierarchy of fitness.

It's been foundational to its rapid growth of 5 million athletes and 14,000 gyms worldwide.

But the hierarchy is missing something. Image The hierarchy was initially published in an iconic publication in the CrossFit world called "What is Fitness?"

The publication defines Fitness in 100 words that can be broken into 5 areas.

1. Nutrition
2. Metabolic Conditioning
3. Gymnastics
4. Weightlifting & Throwing
5. Sport Image
