(1/20) Is Canada a 1st or 3rd world country?

Here’s a thread on my girlfriend’s experience in the mandatory quarantine hotel. #LoveIsNotTourism #LoveIsEssential #HotelQuarantine

(2/20) Ignore the fact that she had to pay for a PCR test in the states as well as book her flight here (1000$) as this is expected and respected during these times of a pandemic.

(3/20) Ignore the fact that she had to be on the phone for 5 hours and and book a mandatory hotel stay at a designated government approved hotel. (1300$)

(4/20) Here we go, @JordanE24218908 lands at the Montréal Pierre Elliot Trudeau airport at 1:30 pm and is given an additional PCR test, luckily for free and is transported directly to her hotel she booked.

(5/20) She is given a choice of 5 meals to pick from for dinner, to which will only be served at 6:30.
My girlfriend was starving being that she hasn’t ate anything since being on the plane.

(6/20) The hotel offered her no free snacks in the meantime, my gf toughs it out & waits till dinner time. Come 6:30, food is not ready. 7:00, food is not ready. Keep in mind my girlfriend is having a headache for how empty her stomach is.

(7/20) She also is not allowed to order food and she cannot even call the front desk as they took out the phone in her room.

(8/20) Finally 5 1/2 hours later of not eating a meal, at 7:45 they knock on her door and leave the food outside which comes essentially in a doggie bag.

(9/20) Not only is it not what she order but it came with no beverage AND the fucking food was cold. My starving girlfriend, obviously swallows it whole, not complaining.

(10/20) Fast forward to morning, her breakfast is served only when it’s convenient for them once again. She is served 2 pieces of bread, as well as a yogurt pack, a juice box and 2 small packs of cream cheese and peanut butter.

(11/20) On the bright side, she was given water this time. This summed up to a total of around 400 calories. Family pets eat better these forced quarantine guests. What the fuck happens if you don’t have a stomach the size of a pea?

(12/20) Luckily my gf got her negative PCR test results right away but the scary part is she would have starved if she had to stay there 2 more days.

(13/20) The Aloft hotel along with the other federal quarantined hotels do NOT refund you if you leave early so her 1 night, 2 dog meals of 800-1000 calories costed her 1300$.

(14/20) That’s almost a dollar per calorie.
And no, don’t say the cost covers security as well because she noticed not one single security guard inside or outside during her embarrassing stay.

(15/20) This/these hotel(s) are cutting corners taking advantage of desperate people during desperate times. They need to be held accountable. The federal government needs to be held accountable.

(16/20) It seems the ol’ man running these hotels are unaware of a thing called social media where social connections, social shame and communities built all around the world for a cause are a thing.

(17/20) Please help our voices along with every other prisoner’s voice get heard. Avoid going to Aloft, avoid at all costs going to hotels.

(18/20) P.S: #LoveIsNotTourism & #LoveIsEssential are international communities wishing for safe travel for family reunification.

(19/20) Just like everyone has the privilege to be with their girlfriend, husband, son or daughter... We do also and we advocate and support PCR testing along with a 14 day Quarantine plan, hotels are abuse.

(20/20) My girlfriend always apologized to me for being American, unfortunately the burden of guilt now falls on my shoulders. I’m sorry @JordanE24218908 that I’m 3rd world Canadian. P.S She found pubes on the bathroom counter 🙃
