But, China's malign influence often crosses over into gray zone conflict and/or deterrence.

These are just a few of the numerous ways China has used hard and soft power to play off each other for the purpose of malignantly influencing a democracy.

And any strategy to combat China's malign Influence must include gray zone escalation/deterrence scenarios.
