All staff working with people (including children ) have been dealing with loss in a variety of ways and doing a lot more emotional labour keeping on, keeping on. Supervision becomes a space to share the load, challenge perspective +leave feeling renewed 2/6
Whatever role we’ve had we’ve been expected to adjust, adapt, develop new mindsets, acquire skills and manage the uncertainty and anxiety of a health crisis even if we weren’t health professionals 3/6
Supervision is a professional conversation supporting staff to do the best job they can. It’s important to notice the achievements. Even in the new virtual worlds professionals are striving to sustain good practice reflecting on what they can improve 4/6
Supervision is a space for curiosity, creativity, care and compassion. There also need to be spaces to challenge and ask uncomfortable questions sometimes to safeguard others. 5/6
What good supervision does is notice the commitment to constantly seeking to improve on practice. It supports the relationships that are key to good services. Supervision helps staff keep caring. It’s importance now can not be underestimated 6/6
