Tonight, from 6pm, we’ll be hosting the drinks for @thesociallondon and taking a trip back in time...
1991 was The Year Shoegaze Broke and all year we’re updating a blog commemorating the 30th anniversary of the great things that happened that year: soniccathedral.co.uk/1991theyearsho…
But, it wasn’t just about shoegaze. In 1991 I had just turned 18, and the world was my oyster. Except I was stuck in the cultural desert of North Devon with just a few record shops and the music press to keep me sane… Now, 30 years later, I’m stuck in Northwest London...
There's not much point in looking forward right now, so I've been looking back; re-reading the music press, re-listening and reminiscing. What an incredible year it was!
So, once a month on @thesociallondon – and hopefully in the *actual* Social before the end of the year – we’re gonna party like it’s 1991!
BYO Werther's Originals. No Bryan Adams or ‘Size Of A Fucking Cow’ – guaranteed!
