In a rare move today House Dem leadership issued a pressing statement in support of Shalanda Young as new WH nominee for OMB director
This is a highly unusual hard press for the WH
-and if they don't name her will be a very serious snub of Dem House members
Statement: "As longtime Members of the Appropriations Committee, we take great pride in recommending Shalanda Young as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. We have worked closely with her for several years and highly recommend her for her intellect
"her deep expertise on the federal budget and her determination to ensure that our budget reflects our values as a nation. Her legislative prowess, extensive knowledge of federal agencies, incisive strategic mind and proven track record will be a tremendous asset to the
"..Administration. Her leadership at the OMB would be historic and would send a strong message that this Administration is eager to work in close coordination with Members of Congress to craft budgets that meet the challenges of our time & can secure broad, bipartisan support"

Ron Johnson's latest from the Senate floor today:
Per Punchbowl:
"In an attempt to criticize the Democrats’ Covid bill, Johnson went to the Senate floor with a chart saying it would take 60,230 years to spend $1.9 trillion at $1 per second. That’s a long time.
"Johnson said humans only developed language about 50,000 years ago. Then there was a quick aside about how Wisconsin was covered with a mile of ice back then, although it melted. Johnson quipped, “Now that’s climate change."
"Then Johnson came back with a different chart that showed a stack of $1 trillion in dollar bills would be 67,886 miles high. Then Johnson talked about stacks of bills to the moon. It was a little confusing and we didn’t understand all of it.

Chris Murphy (Senate Foreign Relations) on Biden's Syria strike:
“I have inherent trust in the national security decision making of President Biden, & I know how seriously he takes Congress's war making powers But Congress should hold this administration to the same standard
"it did prior administrations, and require clear legal justifications for military action, especially inside theaters like Syria, where Congress has not explicitly authorized any American military action.”
WH saying Biden informed Congressional leaders/relevant committees
in advance of the op. But since Biden ordered the strike “to defend U.S. personnel,” he didn’t need any additional authorization from Congress to act.

Readout from Biden's call to SA King Salman today doesn't mention Kashoggi, but human rights came up
Here: "President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke today with King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia to address the longstanding partnership between the United States

"aligned groups. The President noted positively the recent release of several Saudi-American activists and Ms. Loujain al-Hathloul from custody, and affirmed the importance the United States places on universal human rights and the rule of law.

Here's more on Anthony Aguero, a conservative livestreamer, activist and 'close' associate of Marjorie Taylor Greene's who was in the mob on 1/6 & said (counter the MTG's claims) that 'it was NOT Antifa'
She really needs to close her mouth…
2-Per @KFILE : "'We were all there. It was not Antifa and it was not BLM. It was Trump supporters that did that yesterday. I'm the first to admit it, being one myself,' said Aguero in a video posted on January 7.
3-"'I walked amongst all those people,' he added, later defending entering the Capitol.
Greene and Aguero have worked closely together over the years on causes such as immigration and the border wall and have attended pro-Trump rallies together.

Dropped by WaPo this am:
Fed'l auth are investigating possible ties between Roger Stone, Alex Jones & Capitol insurrectionists
Was only a matter of time
-& Jones & Stone have it coming…
2-"The Justice Department and FBI are investigating whether high-profile right-wing figures — including Roger Stone and Alex Jones — may have played a role in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach as part of a broader look into the mind-set of those who committed violence and their
3-"apparent paths to radicalization, according to people familiar with the investigation. The investigation into potential ties between key figures in the riot and those who promoted former president Donald Trump’s false assertions that the election was stolen from him does not

Punchbowl News this am on 'The Week of Self Inflicted Wounds':
"Andrew Cuomo-In the middle of a scandal that threatens his political future, called a Dem state legislator to yell & threaten. The legislator promptly spoke to the press, and Cuomo had another headache 1
"Sen Ron Johnson said on Wisconsin radio that the armed insurrection at the Capitol was, in fact, not armed. Police recovered guns and other weapons. There are videos of people with bats. Five people died that day, & more afterward. Johnson made this claim after being escorted 2/
"around the Capitol Jan. 6 by heavily armed police officers. What happened on Jan. 6 was the definition of an armed insurrection
