when a new Drake project drops, I want to be back in Toronto walking around hearing his songs blasting out of cars, barber shops, cellphones on buses. I want to hear his music in the mall while sportchek employees discuss the drop. These are the moments I miss the city.
I'll forever cherish the spring and summer of 09 when So Far Gone established Drake as an emerging talent. that was the year Toronto embraced him as one of our own. Every BBQ, beach hangs, pre-drinks and late-night seshes was soundtracked by Drake.
I remember that summer being sweaty and heading down to the beach through a packed TTC, 'Best I Ever Had' serenading couples walking hand in hand. 'Housatlantavegas' playing at dance parties, the world collapsing into each slowed down bar.
'Little Bit' embracing us as we walked into a friends backyard. it was the summer between high school and university & I'll forever remember celebrating birthdays shouting along to Santigold on 'unstoppable' because when you're 18 you believe you're invincible.
