Reasons #superstraight is problematic (for those who don't understand the outrage) a thread:
1: Attraction based solely on the condition of primary sexual characteristics (genitalia) is not a SEXUALITY but a PREFERENCE. (ie: A person only has sex with pierced partners)
2: Sexuality is defined as identity in relation to the gender or genders a person is attracted to. The romantic/sexual interest in the PERSON comes FIRST, the identity is just a CLASSIFICATION. (ie: A man has only been attracted to male-identifying people and identifies as gay)
3: Sexuality also includes romantic VS sexual interest. A person can be biromantic and asexual, aromantic and heterosexual, or any number of combinations. Note that these are not based on physical characteristics of the partner.
4: Categorizing preferences as sexualities trivializes the livelihoods of persons in a sexual minority and invalidates the hard work of members of the LGBTQ+ community to gain recognition as legitimate people of equal worth and not just as 'deviants,' 'perverts,' or 'misguided.'
5: The 'superstraight' preference is just being used to justify the discomfort some cisgender heterosexuals feel regarding transgender individuals without having to openly admit to and discuss it, which invalidates and others trans people. This is a form of transphobia.
In conclusion, please do not base your entire sexuality on a genital preference, and please be open to discussion as to why you feel a certain way instead of invalidating MULTIPLE people-groups just because you don't want to talk like an adult.
Thank you.
By the way; you're entirely entitled to that genital preference. Just don't base an entire aspect of your identity on it.
