We show that antibodies from people infected with the 501Y.V2 variant can bind to and neutralize (prevent infection of cells) the previous 1st wave virus as well as the 501Y.V3 (variant first described in Brazil).

What does it all mean? Well, if we design a vaccine based on the 501Y.V2 variant, it may be able to protect us from these different variants. We could also think along the lines of using it as a booster vaccine. Lots of possibilities and really exciting times for COVID vaccine
