I'm announcing the arrest of four Philadelphia men and the seizure of 10 ghost guns, gun kits, and partially assembled firearms following surveillance operations at the Morgantown Gun Show.

Ghost guns are fueling the gun violence epidemic that takes the lives of Pennsylvanians every single day.

Once these DIY homemade gun kits are in the wrong hands, in mere hours they become untraceable, fully operational firearms causing so much senseless violence.
The Office of Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force and Organized Crime Section, along with our federal and local law enforcement partners, are working overtime to target these gun traffickers and get illegal guns off our streets.

I'm testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on ghost guns.

I’m thankful that this subcommittee is taking Ghost Guns, the emerging weapon of choice for violent criminals, seriously and has given us time today to let you, the U.S. Senate, and our country better understand this rapidly growing public safety challenge.
In 2018 in Philadelphia, just 13 ghost guns were recovered.

In 2019 that increased nearly 8-fold to 99 ghost guns.
In 2020: 250.
And as of today, we have recovered 201 in the first four months of 2021. We are on track to recover as many as 600.

That’s in one city alone.

Texas seeks to invalidate elections in four states for yielding results with which it disagrees.

Its request for this Court to exercise its original jurisdiction and then anoint Texas’s preferred candidate for President is an affront to principles of constitutional democracy.
Texas obviously lacks standing to bring such claims, which, in any event, are barred by laches, moot, meritless, and dangerous.

Texas has not suffered harm simply because it dislikes the result of the election[.]
The cascading series of compounding defects in Texas’s filings is only underscored by the surreal alternate reality which those filings attempt to construct.

These continued attacks on our fair and free election system are beyond meritless, beyond reckless -- they are a scheme by the President of the United States and some in the Republican party to disregard the will of the people-- and name their own victors.
This isn't a pick your own ending novel -- this is a Democracy.
These attempts are uniquely unserious -- nothing has worked in court, in the legislature, and now @TXAG is seeking to just throw out the electoral votes all together in four fellow states.

I’m speaking on the police reform bills @GovernorTomWolf is about to sign.

A first step that proves we can make meaningful change in our system when we work together and listen to the people.

Today PA becomes one of the only states in our country to change its laws in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.

People across our Commonwealth took to our streets righteously calling for real improvements to a broken system.
The popular narrative is that there’s no common ground to be had. Not on the issue of police reform.

But after listening, I saw that simply wasn’t true.

There is common ground -- particularly for the statewide database of police misconduct being signed into law today.

My Office has been getting price gouging tips from all over Pennsylvania.

We’re investigating every one -- and here’s just some of what we’ve found so far:

👇THREAD👇
In Erie, PA we found a store that had increased its price on a single can of Lysol to $7.55.

There was also a grocery store that was selling a bottle of Purell for $9.99 -- that’s double what it should’ve been selling for.
Masks are a big one -- one Pharmacy in Montgomery County was found charging $25 a mask.

A store in Philadelphia went even further, selling masks for $50 a pop. 😱

@PaSenate just eliminated criminal statute of limitations on childhood sexual assault‼️

W/ this gone, Bob Corby of Bethlehem, now 84, could have had his day in court.

He’d have been able to see the priest who abused him when he was a boy — brought to justice.
Tonight, the voices of Survivors were heard.

I stand proudly alongside these brave souls, who’ve waited 15 long months since the release of the Grand Jury’s Report on clergy abuse, to see the jurors’ 4 recommended reforms be brought to the PA Senate floor for a vote.
These reforms are more than just statutory changes…

They fundamentally change our justice system to better protect victims and hold abusers – and those who cover-up abuse – accountable under the law.
