Some public health truths, in the guise of a joke.

A short thread in seven parts.
ONE

Virus is not airborne. We know. trust us on this.
TWO

So, wash hands. There's no real proof of respiratory viruses travelling by fomite, but it's our story.
THREE

Stay 6 feet apart. Yeah, there's no proof of this either, we just see infections close-up, so it seems practical.

6 feet is arbitrary, but it's a nice round number as 2 meters.
FOUR

Don't stay near an infected person for more than 15 minutes.

We honestly have no idea where this came from, but we're running with it.
FIVE

There is no spread in hospitals.

Listen, we have studies on this - nothing that sequences virus genes, of course - but you can trust us.

Because otherwise, it's masks for everyone, and that's expensive.
SIX

Kids don't spread it. We know this because we tend not to look for it, and haven't found it, and so have confirmed our thesis.

Really, who wants to test kids? All we'd possibly find is that they spread virus just as they do all the cold coronas.

So, let's not do that.
SEVEN

There is absolutely no spread in schools.

We're drawing a hard line on the truth of this one, because people need to work.

(Just between us, it's more of a political thing than a scientific truth, but shush, that's our little secret.)

Alberta's public health in some deep denial.

Imagine if the nuclear industry behaved like this? It would be righteous outrage for decades.

Why do we put up with this when it's public health?
You don't need a lead suit: a lead wristband is good enough protection. Radiation falls straight to the ground.

Oh, radiation burns? You weren't wearing the wristband properly.

Very few kids get irradiated, they tend not to get very sick, and they only get irradiated at home.

Chapin 1912.

Talking about droplets and airborne. To him "airborne" meant long-range as in many kilometers. Droplet could be through the air more than 1 or 2 m. Plus, he said study it more! We have failed to do that.

Quick thread.
12 foot droplets? I guess they shrunk over the years.

Also, ring worm may be through air.
Page 281. Plague. Droplets means through air over distance, but not long-range.

Note that MASKS WORKED.

Yes let's keep arguing with over educated desk jockey doctors over who needs to prove the cost of pandemic measures.

Meanwhile, pic attached. I assign it a value of a trillion.

Can we treat the situation as serious now?
Me: The building's on fire. Water!

Dr: No. Water has a cost that you must calculate before you get any.

Me: But it's obvious it's far less than the fire!!

Dr: Oh, foolish lay person. Medicine is evidence-based now.

Me: Wait, but YOU didn't have to calc-

[building collapses]
I now assign the cost of the pandemic a value of one hundred trillion dollars.

Serious yet?

Banks must not mislead, and customers signing for overdrafts and debts must receive independent legal advice (Bank of Montreal v Hancock, 1982)

A thread ⬇️ crookston.ca/wp/2021/02/15/…
An old, but interesting, case. Banks must ensure that customers that are taking on debt and signing guarantees for the loans of others are fully apprised of the situation, and receive independent legal advice (Bank of Montreal v Hancock, 1982. See canlii.org/en/on/onsc/doc…)

In 1974, husband's account was turned into a joint account with wife. She understood for convenience. She did not know it was substantially in overdraft. She did not ask for overdraft privileges.

More reasons Vietnam has done so well in this.

They learned from SARS! Imagine that.

...

On the kids and schools issue: note point 3.
