It was announced today that the current season of #kimsconvenience will be our last and we will not make a season 6. It’s a bittersweet end to one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’m so proud of what we’ve done and want to reflect and thank those who made it possible. ❤️
We were the little show that could. Based on a fringe fest play that major theatres passed on. Ins Choi took this from an idea, to the stage, and w/ Kevin White to the TV screen. Few gave us a chance but we were a breakout hit. Thank you Ins and Kevin for your ideas and stories.
The show took a group of talented theatre actors, improv comedians, and artists and turned them into household names. The show allowed us to grow and breath life to these stories. Thank you to Ivan, Alex, Sandra, and @tbirdent for supporting us and setting us up for success.
Thank you to @cbc for believing in this story, trusting this cast, and properly allowing the team to develop this show. You championed us, promoted us, and you gave Canadians a show they could love and be proud of!
Thank you to any crew member that was a part of this show. Your skill and hard work was instrumental in our shows success. You are the real MVPs and I’m going to miss seeing your faces and talent shine day in and day out, and miss trying to make you laugh each take.
To our writers, thank you for creating and crafting these stories. You helped find our voices, you got to know us and you wrote to our strengths. Without you we’d have no sneak attacks, shan-nanogins, ddongjeems, and 🦃🦃🌮s. Thank you for every script, every joke, each word ❤️.
To our directors who brought these stories to life. You guided w/ a steady hand. You let us play, you helped us find our characters, you found the perfect balance of comedy and heart. And you put up with my “high energy” takes while politely asking me to “take it down” a bit. 😅
I could go on and on about the actors that have stepped onto our set. You showcased your talent to the world and your presence added so much heart to the show. You made us smile, sometimes angry, but always made us laugh. Thank you for coming to set and playing with us.
To my Handy squad! Being w/ you was like being at a sleepover w/ my best friends. It was a joy acting with you. Days on set was filled with non stop singing, joking, dancing, talking about @MichaelMusi’s relationship history, and eating sandwiches. I’m gonna miss you all so much!
The #kimbits, and our fans from around the world. We would be nothing without you. You watched the show, tweeted, told anyone and everyone to tune in. You pushed and pushed and showed up at every event. You shouted “Kimchee” from moving cars, drew us art, voted for us at awards..
and gave us so much love. I’ll remember our Kim’s improv nights at @BadDogTheatre. I tear up thinking how blessed we’ve been to have the best fans in the world. I will miss talking to you. Being stopped on the street and you telling me about your family, your connection to the...
...show, and how your culture is similar to the one portrayed in our world. This show was for you, and making you smile and laugh was the greatest honour I could have.
To my fellow costars. @bitterasiandude @jean_yoon @SimuLiu @NicolePower3 and Andrea Bang, it was the greatest honour to watch you act, learn from you, and act alongside you. Every day with you with an absolute joy. I’m so proud of everything we created and cherish all moments...
I spent with you. I’ll remember scenes we could barely get through because we were laughing, travelling across Canada to promote the show, meals together, and table reads. I love each of you so much. As this journey ends I can’t wait to see your careers continue to flourish.
I get to see you become superheroes, defenders of the galaxy, creators, and storytellers. You are all so talented and will continue to fly high. Thank you for your friendship. ❤️
To my family, my wife, two wonderful sons, and parents. Thank you for your support on this journey. Everything I do is for you. You are my pride and joy in life.
There will be a lot of questions of why the show isn’t moving forward. In short, we lost some key creative people that were vital the show. Most of the cast tried everything to keep it going. We tried our absolute best, but it became clear that it wasn’t going to happen.
I won’t dwell on it ending but will instead focus on how amazing this journey and the shows success has been. We were a hit show! We had success around the world. Schools study the play and watch the show in class. We won awards and this truly Canadian show allowed people...
to see themselves on television. We saw Appa and Umma and connected to their immigrant story and struggle to build a life in a new country. We saw Jung and Janet and watched 2nd generation Canadians grow into their own. We saw Shannon, our awkward dream boss, and friend.
And you saw Kimchee and saw your cousin, brother, best friend, and son. I’m saddened that I will no longer play this character but my heart is full from your love, support, and the opportunity to make you laugh.
There are six more episodes this season. This 5th season meant a lot, and is possibly our best work. We’re going out on a high note and with our heads up high. From the bottom of my ❤️, thank you! One last time, #okseeyou! 🦃🦃🌮

I literally just witnessed a @TorontoPolice officer shout “go back to your country” because they were confused at the crosswalk. To which two white dudes then shouted “amen, go back to where you fucking came from.” THIS IS NOT MY CANADA!
I then walked alongside the racist dudes and talked about all the things I love about immigrants and what they bring to Canada.
I ran back to snap a pic of the officer. I have it but won’t share. I’ll provide it to @TorontoPolice if they’d like to follow up. It was a this intersection. Today is a beautiful day for a Jays game and instead this family gets told to go home. THIS IS NOT MY CANADA!
