One year ago today, WHO published "Clinical Management of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) when COVID-19 Disease is Suspected" When it came to maternal-newborn care WHO was 100% right and so many mothers and infants were protected. Those involved should be congratulated.

And yet country after country and health authority after health authority recommended separating mothers and infants if mothers had COVID-19. Bad policy from the US CDC was the most influential guidance worldwide and caused harm within and without the US. nutrition.bmj.com/content/3/2/339
