Celebrating #PieDay here is a small thread on an option to introduce hypothesis testing/frequentist reasoning using #Rstats and #jamovistats along with various internet resources. 1)
Might sound a bit strange but here is Ho arising from... the Bible, where our best guess for pi is pi=3 web.mit.edu/jywang/www/cef…… 2)
But then we come up with a statistical experiment in order to estimate pi seeing-theory.brown.edu/frequentist-in…… 3)
Repeat the experiment *many* times and introduce results in @jamovistats 4)
Well, you get the point. Then some descriptives give us a hint on the parameters of an underlying normal distribution. With only 4 replications our best guess is a bit off but will still do the job 5)
Too lazy to repeat the experiment *many* times, simulate data from our best guess, visualise with a histogram, a couple of ablines at x1=3 (our Ho), and x2=pi (we already know) 6)
Just 2/500 replications are at least as extreme as our initial guess/knowledge (Ho). We reject Ho as a result. 7)
Freaking threads, managed to pull through...
