John Barrasso denied that Biden won the election ON DECEMBER 14 when the electoral college certified it
Why wouldn't you mention this? Why wouldn't you ask him "why did you spread the lie" or "will you apologize for lying?"
Instead here he is blaming antifa in Portland
There were plenty of reporters around when Barrasso did this on Dec. 14 by the way. You could have any of them instead of just asking him "you seem like an honest guy, so what's your response to Nancy Pelosi?" and "what do you think about the filibuster?"
For all their talk of "holding people accountable" it truly feels like almost nobody in the news industry cares about this at all and that the people who run these shows and other influential platforms just want to help Republicans "move on" by pretending they never did this
I mean how much fucking evidence do you need
They're addicted to giving these Big Liars a platform and if the reason isn't ideological what is it

On Sunday @ThisWeekABC is platforming a Big Liar, John Barrasso
Barrasso claimed Trump won for seven weeks. On Dec. 14, when the electoral college confirmed the results, he was asked if Biden won and called it a “gotcha question”
Barrasso is enjoying a rewriting-history rehab tour from media-friendly personalities who offer him their TV show’s platform and don’t even mention that he spent almost two months trying to overturn the election
A few days before him it was @chucktodd who booked Barrasso on @MeetThePress and completely ignored his very recent history of spreading the racist Big Lie to deceive millions of people into thinking the election was stolen by illegal Black votes
This is an A+ worm-in-your-brain thing for @ABC to publish (it’s just a GOP smear) inadvertently exposing that some morons in the press:
a) miss Trump spreading lies every day and consider that a good thing and
b) think it “raises accountability questions” — yet don’t name them
If you’re just copying what Cillizza writes and adding a few extra quotes it means you’re generating an absurd conflict where none exists, and even midway through your story you admit Biden DID have a press conference but it wasn’t a “formal” one (no tuxedos) so it doesn’t count
The Republican Party is so goddamn good at creating bad-faith outrage and convincing media mooks with the lowest critical thinking skills that it’s a real story
Barrasso was on @MeetThePress three days ago. Not one question or mention of how he tried to overturn the election by lying about it being stolen. Not one follow-up on how he called it a "gotcha"
The worst actors in the mainstream media want you to forget Republicans did this
@FaceTheNation has booked Ronna McDaniel, one of the biggest Big Liars
@FoxNewsSunday has booked Rick Scott, who voted to overturn the election AFTER THE JAN. 6 ATTACK
@ThisWeekABC has Rob Portman, who pushed the Big Lie for 6 weeks
Journalists at these “news shows” are spreading the lie that Trump won the election
None of these hosts will hold the Republicans they’ve booked accountable for their actions and will treat everything they say as if it might be true
“History” has already forgotten what they did
There are no consequences for spreading the Big Lie. Look at the Big Liars that these same Sunday shows booked just in the past few weeks — allowing them to spread whatever lies they want and never challenging them on the misinformation campaign they *continue* to push every day
There’s a shaky argument for holding Big Liars accountable by putting them on live TV and trying to catch them in every part of their lie. It takes incredible skill because they don’t acknowledge any truth. To date no one has done this perfectly. Cuomo doesn’t even come close
The best Trump interviewer was @jonathanvswan and I don’t even know if he could do this right. Once the big liar is on tv they’ve already won. Their only goal is to say “the election was stolen” on a legitimate non-Fox platform. Doesn’t matter if you say “no it wasn’t,” it’s done
Madison Cawthorn pushed the big lie on CNN and @PamelaBrownCNN got him to admit he hadn’t seen any evidence of fraud. But he was still given plenty of time to lie about false anecdotal BS and other “hold up the constitution” nonsense. The question is just why allow it at all?
