Let's sit with one of the reasons why 8 Asian women were murdered tonight. Because they are among the most vulnerable of us, and the shooter knew it.

I want to talk about the violent misogyny and white supremacy that has led us here, starting with incel and PUA groups that formed long ago in the early 2000s online.

I want to talk about how white supremacists purposely use Asian women as shields in their agendas. How they manipulate and abuse Asian women and ultimately bring them in.

I'm no historian nor scholar, but the patterns are there and have been for decades. Misogyny against Asian women was nurtured and fostered in places like Stormfront. 4chan. Model Minority. Reddit.

Asian women are vulnerable. They're perceived as meek, submissive. But also the race and gender combo that is most desired of the undesirables. And that makes us prey for white supremacists.

Have you seen these men show up with their anime avatars, their Asian fetishes? And they spew the most disgusting, vile hate. It's at a point where they're almost synonymous to me.

It is incredibly disturbing to be both an object of hate and an object of lust for these people. Because of that - we become targets for violence.

Asian women, likely Southeast Asian women, were targeted tonight because they are vulnerable. They are discriminated against. They are victims of colorism within the community and in broader society. They are seen as objects, often sex objects.

And that started with colonialism and Europeans raiding Asian countries and visiting violence upon the people there, then perpetuatinf a narrative that has led directly to the murders of tonight.

Shame on those who saw these patterns and said and did nothing, who excuses others, who turned away. Like I said, this has been online for 2 decades and has been amplified in the last 4 years. And to my grief, 8 Asian women are dead tonight because of it.

Update: I am aware now, as I was not at the time, that 6 of the victims are Asian women, at least 4 of them Korean. News changes and moves and this was at a point in time when I had not seen more specifics.
