House NOW debating joint resolution to remove the deadline for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment to the US Constitution.
House Judiciary Chair Nadler opens the ERA ratification House floor debate: "H.J. Res. 17 is long overdue legislation to ensure that the Equal Rights Amendment can finally become the 28th Amendment to the United States."
Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) begins House ERA debate for Republicans:"HJ Res 17 is not a resolution to revive the Equal Rights Amendment. It is a messaging vehicle...We are here today for a headline, so that Democrats can say they supported the ERA when it was in the House."
House will vote on ERA ratification deadline removal bill later this afternoon.
