I'm going to tell you a story. It's a happy, positive, one which is all about what everyone can do to help bumblebees. Please read on... ๐๐

At @BumblebeeTrust we've decided 2021 is the year to Bee the Change, and this is why we think it's important!
18 months ago we started a project called โCreating a buzz around our storyโ. With support from @HeritageFundUK we surveyed 1000s of people to find out what people wanted to do to help bumblebees. It turns out many of you were keen to get involved, but, crucially...
...lots of you really wanted simple advice on what actions to take to help bumblebees. However, you told us the world is confusing, time is precious, and money can be in short supply. It's not easy to know what to do!
Working in-house, with our amazing consultants @Randall_Fox and subsequently with wonderful new support from Postcode Green Trust, thanks to players of @PostcodeLottery we developed a new way of thinking, and today....
We launch #BeeTheChange, a new campaign to inspire people across the UK to take quick and simple micro-actions people to make their postcodes more bumblebee-friendly!
Weโve launched a new website bumblebeeconservation.org/beethechange which is full of free resources to help inspire people to take action for bumblebees. Take a look!
It doesnโt matter whether you live in the city or the countryside, have a garden, a flower pot โ or no outdoor space at all. You can pledge to Bee the Change wherever you live!
Through the campaign, people will pledge to Bee the Change and carry out quick & simple micro-actions like spotting nearby bumblebees, growing bee-friendly plants, creating bumblebee havens, & spreading the #BeeTheChange message with friends, families & local communities.
We hope you can help us spread the Bee the Change message far and wide. The more of us who care about our lovely, friendly, and super important bumblebees, the bigger the difference we can make!
Thread. A few thoughts from me following the fabulous @chrisdc77 thread on science and press releases. (for context) I run a Press Office but was once a scientist so here goes... 1/n
In my work we run things so that scientists 'own' their press releases. It is their work, they put the long hours in, they care about it, they are best placed to help engage others with it 2/n
...but, and it's a big but...scientists must seek out, listen to, and incorporate professional advice and assistance from their Communications teams and Press Office staff. We're experts too! 3/n
