Everton: no major trophies since 1995

Tottenham: no major trophies since 2008 (and nothing important since 1991)

Villa: no major trophies since 1996

Leeds: no major trophies since 1992

Newcastle: no major trophies since 1969 (domestically, since 1955!)

Sunderland: no major trophies since 1973

Wolves: no major trophies since 1980

West Ham: no major trophies since 1980

Granted, several of these clubs have had their problems, plenty of them - but all this is a reflection of how awful modern football truly is.

Modern football, even for big clubs, is about finishing 4th or, at worst, 17th.

Modern football is utterly monopolised by the same handful of super-monied clubs ALL THE TIME. And it's a Europe-wide problem, hardly just an English one.

Since Everton last won a trophy...

- Manchester United have won 23

- Chelsea have won 20

- Manchester City have won 11 (and will add up to four more this season)

- Arsenal have won 11

- Liverpool have won 9

ALL of those five clubs have, at times, won major trophies in that era without even playing well, for pity's sake.

Meanwhile, what happened to the only two clubs to break The Big Five strangehold on the FA Cup since 1995? Wigan and Portsmouth both ended up almost dead.

Since 1995, the FA Cup roll of honour is:

Arsenal 8
Chelsea 7
Man Utd 4
Man City 2
Liverpool 2

It's so boring, it's unbelievable. And it has next to nothing to do with sport.
