Today's Sunday, it's sunny outside and the birds are singing, I also woke up to see that there is a new controversy on a transgender kid and I'm VERY tired to see the anti trans discourse dominating.
It's time for a thread on #roberthoogland

So who's Robert Hoodland? For many people online sharing the story, it's a poor dad who's trying to save his "biological daughter" from transitioning, which is seemingly imposed by the kid's school.
After months of opposing his child transition he got jail time

For a looooot of transphobes out there, the story sounds like "dad gets jail time after misgendering his kid" and I have to say it really does fit their agenda it's a perfect story right? The school "forcing" the kid to take hormones against the dad's wishes

BUT after researching a bit more the subject you actually start finding real information about what is really happening with this kid so let's dive in!

Suddenly it doesn't sound too bad and is actually pretty healthy, here we also learn that the kid has been using his new name for 2 years, which is a lot

The kid then want to start medically transitioning, then again, pretty standard he even see a psychologist and an endocrinologist, it's not just a small decision and shows the resolve of the kid

*It's worth mentioning that in a lot of places a kid can't take hormones when too young and is supposed to take puberty blockers instead, so take any mention of testosterone with a grain of salt

We then learn in many other articles that the father and mother of the kid are separated nypost.com/2021/03/18/man…

And that what actually happened was that the father actually kept publicly and repeatedly misgender his son and leaked health and private informations about him, FOR TWO YEARS

We heard a lot about the father who's out there and is interviewed on a lot of different platforms but we have yet to hear the mother, where is she?
Well she is busy taking care of their son, probably trying to undo all the damage that the father is currently causing

We learn that the father refuses any dialogue and is basically transphobic.
Doesn't actually care about his kid and
he also partnered with a conservative group, probably to milk the story and become a martyr for the transphobic crowd

SO what actually happened?
A divorced father is against the transition of his transgender son and decided to leak personal health information about him (pictures and deadname, probably more) to get the conservatives to back him up while EVERYONE ELSE in the story is helping

AND listening to the child who's now feeling better

Now, to the worst part (because I'm not done here)

And this is what was actually happening, it's worth mentioning that the father said that his son did a suicide attempt BEFORE transitioning.

The justice decision was actually there to prevent the kid from taking his life and protect him, because the father kept talking to every media he could about his "daughter" and I can imagine how terrible his son must feel right now with his name and face on those outlets
