Being protected from COVID-19 is the most obvious benefit of getting vaccinated, but here's another one: free doughnuts.

Starting Monday, anyone who shows proof of vaccination at Krispy Kreme will receive a free glazed doughnut.

If you're really into Krispy Kreme, you can do this every single day for the rest of 2021.

“We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe,” said a representative.

For doughnut-obtaining purposes, it doesn't matter if you haven't snagged your second shot yet — anyone who has received at least one of the two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is eligible.

According to Krispy Kreme, all Bay Area locations will be participating in the promotion.

You can get your free vaccine doughnuts in Daly City, Concord, Union City, Fremont, Mountain View and Santa Clara.

What would a rated R version of “Mrs. Doubtfire” look like?

The internet pleaded for an answer late last week when a viral tweet addressed the late Robin Williams’ knack for improvisation.
sfgate.com/sf-culture/art…
The tweet references a 2015 Yahoo! Entertainment interview with director Chris Columbus, who said that he used multiple cameras at once during each take in order to fully capture Williams’ comedic flair.

"It'd be like, 'OK, take 25!'" remembered actress Mara Wilson (who played Natalie, one of the children) in a separate segment on the "Today” show in 2018. "And Robin would be different every time.”

When Disneyland reopens on April 30, the park will welcome guests with a substantially different experience.

There will be fewer attractions to enjoy, like parades and fireworks, and none of the perks like Fast Passes or Magical Mornings.
sfgate.com/disneyland/art…
But despite all that — or really, because of it — the reopened park will offer an experience unlike any it's offered before.

Per CA’s guidance for the red tier, the parks will be opening at 15% capacity, and only CA residents will be allowed to visit.

Smaller crowds will offer better ride experiences, and limited capacities in stores will give people space to shop without crowds.

For many, the trade-offs of mask-wearing and being stationary while eating or drinking will be worth it.

Since stepping away from Google, the focus of the 9th richest person in the world is this: building a giant “sky yacht.”

According to reports, a prototype could be ready to take off from Silicon Valley as soon as this year.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin loves airships.

He loves them so much that his 2012 debut for Google Glass involved a skydiving stunt where a team of jumpers leaped out of a zeppelin floating over downtown San Francisco.
sfgate.com/travel/article…
Media first caught wind of Brin’s massive airship project inside the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View in 2017.

At the time, it was all very secretive, but in the past few years, more details have emerged.

69-year-old Marilyn Hartman was arrested for attempting to sneak onto a flight at Chicago's O’Hare Intl. Airport.

This is the 22nd time she's been arrested for attempting to sneak onto a flight or otherwise violating orders to stay away from airports.
sfgate.com/travel/article…
The arrest came two weeks after a judge rejected a plea deal that would have given her probation for a previous attempt to stow away on a flight.

Hartman is being held on a trespassing charge.
sfgate.com/travel/article…
Her first documented try was in February 2014 when Hartman made it all the way through SFO's security and onto a flight to Hawaii.

She was busted when the seat's real occupant got on board.

For the first time since Cal Poly student Kristin Smart disappeared nearly 24 years ago, police have officially named a "prime suspect" — and are searching a home he once lived in.
sfgate.com/crime/article/…
The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office began a search of a home on the 700 block of White Court in Arroyo Grande that belongs to Ruben Flores, father of Paul Flores, on Monday.

Flores was the last person to see Smart alive on Memorial Day weekend 1996.
sfgate.com/crime/article/…
Until Monday, Flores was never named as a suspect, but he's long been the only person of interest for law enforcement.

Smart's family also believed Flores knew more about their daughter's disappearance than he was letting on.

It's not every day a whale is seen venturing into the SF Bay to feed on anchovies, and until this week, it's never before happened in March.

Multiple reports reveal that a humpback whale has been swimming around the bay for a week now.
sfgate.com/local/article/…
"What's very unusual is it's a month early," Bill Keener, a field researcher with the Marine Mammal Center, told SFGATE.

"It's normally late April they come to feed. This guy shows up on March 9."
sfgate.com/local/article/…
The massive mammal is reportedly over 50 feet in length and was first seen last week near Sausalito, and later Tiburon, feeding on fish.

Whales taking a detour from their migration to San Francisco are a very recent marvel, Keener says.
