It also reminds me of this incident with my friend, which is honestly one of the things that has affected me most in my life. At some point shouldn't you just get to be yourself and still get important things?

One of the hardest things you can do is change an up-till-now successful course. It's the common thread that makes relationships, businesses, and sports team fail. And of course, its what makes people fail.
A culture is in many ways a mere accumulation of habits and those habits were accumulated to get along and succeed in the group you were a part of and the material circumstances you all shared! If you grow up in one culture and have to assimilate into another, that's hard!
My parents did it very well which in turn made it much easier for me. It came at very real physical, fiscal and psychological costs. Tremendous resources were spent just so well meaning white friends could make fun of me for being whiter than them.
Ironically, one of them was the same friend up top. I don't think he remembers the incident, but I sure do.
Yeah, there's a lot of talk about the so-called "soft skills" being actually much harder to hire for in, e.g., tech than the actual job skills. And here we're mostly talking about awkward white people hiring other awkward white people.

Blackness was made and whiteness was made up.
I think a lot about the power of culture and assimilation, so I have some sympathy for the people Jonathan is complaining about. But only a little, because if you want to change Black attitudes on America you should start with Black material conditions.

Reminder on what material conditions includes

Again, if you believe that the global reserve currency is at all likely to collapse, please ask yourself what happens to global network of computers required to make bitcoin happen.
This is what I refer to as a Goldilocks Apocalypse - a massive earth-shattering event that's juuuuuust catastrophic enough to go exactly your way.
If you're that worried, I would rather you invest in yellow rocks, because the yellow rocks have historically held value between governing paradigms and don't require electricity. But honestly if you're there you should consider ammunition and canned food.

I understand you folks think you can meme a stock into high prices forever, but that's not how any of this works. GME stock chart for the day.
But congratulations, random with $74,400 to blow, you've managed to make the very squiggly looking line covering a loss of 2.55% and it look like a steady loss of 2.55%.

I don't know if it's the world that's changed or it's me, but I honestly don't know how to react any more to a show whose premise is "vigilante beats up criminals" unless that vigilante is also a costumed superhero.
That is the second of at least three layers of weirdness!

I really don't think "people only pretend to care about Asians when they are political useful" is the argument Team Conservative wants to raise here.
Yes, I am not only more worried about people who look like my kids getting murdered than my kids not getting into Harvard, I can't even use the same parts of my brain to think about those two problems.

I was going to make a joke about shrugging off racially motivated murder to own the libs but it's actually less surprising when I put it that way.

I mean they're dunking on it because it's facially wrong enough that you can enforce a boundary against so-woke-you-went-round-the-bend without scoring one for the Jameses Lindsay.
I think it is good to safeguard against Bad Wokism, and by and large the dunking has stayed well on the side of "this is a factually silly claim" as opposed to "words can't infantalize women" which arguably is a victory of Good Wokism.
I would also like to note this has all the hallmarks of the things that are supposed to be scary about the reign of the wokies: a seemingly arbitrary change in the rules that deems your past conduct unacceptable without regard for your intent. And the end result is conversation.
