A job listing from Murphy-Goode Winery went viral last weekend as a dream job: Live rent-free in Sonoma County, drink wine, take in the scenery and make $10,000 a month.

The opportunity sounds almost too good to be true.
sfgate.com/wine/article/H…
What exactly does the job entail, besides drinking wine and exploring “the many beautiful features of Wine Country”?

The job listing is intentionally vague because the winery is asking applicants to “pitch us their ultimate dream job."

The job search is actually a revival of a similar 2009 job search that offered the winning applicant housing, $10,000 a month and a position marketing Murphy-Goode wines via social media.

Hardy Wallace won the original "Really Goode Job" search.

“In many ways, it was the perfect thing for me at the right time,” Wallace said.

“I was laid off and I knew I wanted to get into the wine business ... I knew I was going to put everything I had into being the person that they chose.”

The original 2009 position only lasted six months but was similarly launched at a time of economic downturn.

This time around, the job tenure lasts twice as long, which is a direct response to the pandemic’s hit on the economy.

The 2009 and 2021 job searches do have one thing in common: They’ve been great publicity for Murphy-Goode.

The 2009 job search received nearly 2,000 applicants and was covered by the New York Times, the “Today” show and more.

It seems likely that even more people will apply for the job this time around.

But for those who know the wine industry is where they need to be, Wallace said, “If you see that posting and you’re like, ‘I want that,’ you should definitely apply.”

Oakland California Highway Patrol introduced the world to a pigment-free procyon named Timmy on Friday.

The albino raccoon is reportedly living on the Bay Bridge, and by the looks of the video shared on CHP's Instagram, he's a friendly beast.

"Timmy was first discovered by one of our Oakland Graveyard Officers about a year ago. We are unsure why Timmy is so friendly, but one thing is for sure, he’s always watching our six," the agency commented alongside the video.

The footage shows Timmy living his best life, approaching the officers and inspecting their vehicle.

In the past few months, a new acronym has hit the internet that's been nearly unavoidable: NFT.

Some NFTs have been selling for astronomical prices, and now a San Francisco street artist has gotten in on the craze.

Best known for the ubiquitous honey bear posters seen all around San Francisco, artist fnnch recently created an image depicting three tech titans' appearance on audio social networking app Clubhouse on March 18. Image
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Spotify's Daniel Ek and Shopify's Tobi Lütke received the honey bear treatment, and the digital NFT version sold for the cryptocurrency equivalent of $64,610.78.

Within the span of an hour one March evening in 2020, the world changed dramatically.

Tom Hanks tested positive for COVID-19 and Donald Trump issued a travel ban. And then there was the Masked Singer.

To sing the swan song for life as we knew it up to that point was former Alaska governor and former vice-presidential contender Sarah Palin, dressed in a pink-purple bear costume, stumbling over the words to Sir Mix-A-Lot's “Baby Got Back.”

"At that moment," writes @joshua_bote, "'The Masked Singer' wormed its way into history — the deeply wretched few hours in which Americans understood, at least culturally, that the coronavirus was not like anything most had witnessed in their lifetimes."

In a hot mic incident recorded over the Mineta San Jose International Airport’s air traffic control scanner, an unidentified pilot was heard delivering an expletive-heavy rant.
sfgate.com/travel/article…
The pilot who delivered the anti-Bay Area rant has been confirmed to be an employee of Southwest Airlines, the airline confirmed.

A spokesman for the company did not identify the pilot but said that they are "fully addressing the situation internally."

The audio is archived online at Live ATC, a website that livestreams air traffic control audio transmissions.

Though the audio is fuzzy and the context of the remarks unclear, the pilot can be heard repeatedly cursing.

“If I had never gone to that first Charli show, who knows where my life would be now?” says @poison_oakland.

@charli_xcx invited her to be in a documentary about the making of her latest album during a pandemic: “alone together.”
sfgate.com/sf-culture/art…
What’s captivating about “alone together” isn’t just the story of a pop star living in quarantine, but also how the documentary addresses the loss of LGBTQ+ spaces and the resulting impact on the communities they serve.

Among other things, Oakland discusses how the loss of gigs led her to undergo somewhat of an identity crisis.

“I had events and gigs all lined up and all of that was canceled. Now, I feel like part of me is missing.”
