Frantic defamation campaigns against #Eritrea have been ramped up in last couple of days. Cases in point: i) Spurious allegation of "Eritrean troop deployment in al-Fashiqa triangle" deliberately floated to create rift between Eritrea & Sudan.
ii) The "preliminary findings" issued by the Ethiopian HRC is equally astounding for the fallacious allegations it peddles as well as timing. What is mind-boggling in this whole sordid affair is the variations/mutations the fabricated story has undergone in the past few weeks
The first fabricated narrative - issued sometime last January - alleged that "massacre of 800 civilians occurred" on St. Mary of Zion Day during the annual festivity in the compounds of the Church as Eritrean soldiers tried to steal/take to Eritrea the "historic Arc of Covenant"
In the latter versions, this narrative was quietly dropped; circumstances and dates - now 28th & 29th November -changed; & "event" portrayed as "cruel retaliatory attacks" after some skirmishes. Subsequent versions alluded to "corroborating satellite image of recent mass grave"
Later versions referred to non-existence of graves as the "remains of the massacred individuals were devoured by hyenas". In the meantime, footage of Ethiopian TV broadcasts (Fana TV etc), illustrated that St. Mary's Day was celebrated in serene & normative climate on Nov. 30th.
The same pattern of shifting narratives is discernible in other outrageous accusations levelled against Eritrea for nefarious ends. Game plan is indeed transparent: fabricate & heap all sorts of "incriminating" accusations against Eritrea to resuscitate defunct TPLF clique!
