PH National Volleyball Federation board member @itscharosoriano on choosing to work in volleyball: It is because my passion for volleyball. It's the only thing that wakes me up early in the morning.
.@itscharosoriano on empowering women: Volleyball is also a stereotype sport for women. We should increase the number of female coaches, officials, and leaders in our volleyball community.
.@itscharosoriano on dealing with objectification: We are playing volleyball and beach volleyball to unify people and promote the sport. We want to feel that the sport is something that should not be objectified and worthy of respect.
.@itscharosoriano gives advice to women who want a career in sports: We live in a patriarchal society, where there are less opportunities for women. There will be doubts as we are the minority in leadership. We should take a step forward to engage and embrace us in the community
Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Anna Ong-Lim on the surge of cases: I think some of the bigger concerns that countries that have lost their grip in the numbers have been the usual problems with contact tracing and early identification of cases
Dr. Ong-Lim: When you look through the data from the other countries, those who got their acts straight, they have good contact tracing systems
Has the government failed our people in its COVID-19 response?
Dr. Ong-Lim: We've always said that our contact tracing efforts can stand to be improved. During the start of the outbreak, there was a target, for every individual case, there should have been 37 contacts traced.
Dr. Ong-Lim on whether MECQ should be imposed again or not: There will be a time for that. The most effective intervention is to stop people from moving, but if we do that, and we don't learn how to figure out the lapses in the system, then this will be a temporary measure.
Dr. Ong-Lim: If there will be some kind of tighter community quarantine imposition, then this has to be tied together with actions that would really resolve the gaps so we don't have to do this once more.
Dr. Ong-Lim on the proposed abolition of the IATF: To be fair, the IATF has taken into consideration inputs from the health and economic sectors. There are so many moving parts to get going and there's need for coordination
Dr. Ong-Lim on Ivermectin: What is proven right now is the consistent use of face mask and face shield. Ivermectin does not have evidence as of the moment.
