You’re in a Border Patrol boat armed with machine guns.

The only threat you face is unarmed children and families who are seeking asylum (as well as the occasional heckler).

If you’re looking for a crisis to cosplay Senator for, I’m happy to point you in the right direction.
The state you “represent” in the Senate is the least insured in the nation.

That means your constituents are dying of diabetes, curable cancers and the flu (as well as 50,000 from Covid in the last year alone) because they can’t afford a doctor or medicine.
110 Texans died in mass shootings in the last 2 years because you’re more concerned about taking care of the NRA than in taking care of the people you are supposed to serve.

Families from El Paso, Sutherland Springs, Santa Fe High, Midland/Odessa know what a real crisis is.
Hundreds of thousands of working Texans make a minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, which means they need to 2 or even 3 jobs just to pay the rent and put food on the table.

And your hometown of Houston leads the nation in evictions of these minimum wage workers during the pandemic.
The truth is, the number of individual asylum seekers and immigrants seeking to come to this country is the SAME or LOWER than it was in 2019 when Trump was President (and you were, apparently, Senator).

This isn’t any more of a crisis today than it was then.
If you’re ever interested in actually working on solutions to what we’re seeing at our border (instead of trafficking in seditious lies, fleeing Texas during a storm that killed more than 100, etc.), here are some ideas:

This is the predictable result when Abbott describes asylum seekers as an “invasion," asks Texans to “defend” the state from immigrants by “taking matters into our own hands,” and treats refugees like political props instead of human beings.
We saw it 3 years ago in El Paso. We will continue to see this until we have a governor who sees migrants as human beings, and is focused on solutions instead of political stunts.
We have real problems at our border and with our immigration system. Everyone can agree on that much.

But I hope we can also agree that stunts like busing asylum seekers, and inciting hatred for and fear of those fleeing dictatorships hasn’t solved any of those problems.

Just met 33 FIRST-TIME voters at our town hall meeting in Frisco yesterday!

Help me thank them for being such an important part of the campaign we’re building across Texas.

As our kids go back to school, Abbott is hoping Texans don't see how he has repeatedly failed our students, teachers, and parents.

Let's make sure everyone does ⬇️

Abbott is hoping Texans don't see his extreme agenda that the Republican party just endorsed.

Let's make sure everyone does:
Defunding our kids' public schools. That's Abbott's vision for Texas. Image
Abolishing abortion. That's Abbott's vision for Texas. Image

Abbott’s newest political stunts along the border are making inflation worse, supply chain issues worse, and prices worse.

Help share this very real cost of having him in office ⬇️
I just spoke to a small business owner in McAllen who imports produce from Mexico.

Her broker said that of the 250 produce trucks that he typically helps to cross each day at the Pharr port of entry, only 68 could get through on Friday. The rest were stuck.
She told me that tomorrow will be even worse: “it will be complete chaos.”

Mondays are usually the busiest for produce imports. “U.S. truckers will be showing up to try and take these imports to other parts of TX and the country, and there won’t be anything in our warehouses!”

I spent the last week on the road to so many incredible communities, meeting with a ton of great Texans, working together, and uniting around a shared vision for the best jobs, world-class schools, and affordable health care.

Wanted to share some highlights:
We kicked off our People of Texas Campaign with an education town hall in Dallas.

Parents, teachers, students, others in the community all coming together for our schools. We committed to fully funding our classrooms, raising teacher pay, strengthening their benefits, and more.
We held a health care roundtable in Houston. Talked about Texas having the second largest nursing shortage, currently understaffed by around 20,000 RNs.

But also committed to fixing it, introducing a plan to add 7,500 RNs a year through a state-sponsored apprenticeship program.
