Improve your thinking — even if you are a genius
VERY IMPORTANT THREAD + TEMPLATE

1. Think of thinking as a conversation with yourself, a dialogue or a group meeting of your parts:

1a. An exploration, creative stream-of-consciousness, investigation, attempt to explain a puzzling situation?

A fantasy, a reminiscence or re-living af a past event.
A celebration of an achievement.
A performance review.
An attempt to understand an emotion

2. Goal: Perhaps you are trying to come up with a new approach, or explain an unexpected result., or understand a confusing situation.
2a. Like in a conversation, Go Meta and try to state the goal and PROCESS (it can shift):

3. Prompts:
What are we talking about?
Do I need to take notes? (yes)
Are we on the right track?
Do we need to switch gears?
What other inputs do we need?
Are we making progress?
Remind yourself that the confusion and uncertainty mean you are in unknown territory and that's GOOD

4. Draw TENTATIVE conclusions:

Use your MODIFIERS:

Frequency: Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never
Certainty: Certain, pretty certain, probably, maybe, what if…
Truth: Absolutely true, probably true, possibly true, likely, unlikely.
Binary or a spectrum?

Importance: Crucial, important, maybe important, unimportant
Urgency: Emergency, urgent, pressing, eventually, someday, mañana
Likelihood: Will happen, prob. will happen, might happen, could happen, unlikely, No Way.
Fundamentality: 1st Prin, basic, important, minor detail.

5. Adjust, tune, refine, modify, grow:

Don't believe everything you think. Some ideas are placeholders for your evolving understanding or seedlings for big ideas. Re-examine: Reality changes. New info emerges. Other people may have a better idea.
