A political turmoil began within the @INCIndia, when a group of 23 (G-23) "dissenting" Congress leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad & Kapil Sibal wrote a letter to Interim party Chief Sonia Gandhi..

expressing grave concerns & displeasure over party's higher command, thus demanding comprehensive changes amongst the party and its leadership, in view of frequent failures at the elections.

The leader of the G-23 party of congress, is @ghulamnazad and members are many others who have been union ministers, chief ministers or the party's state unit chiefs.

- These Senior Congress leaders have significantly contributed across sectors during INC rule & have been instrumental in shaping the party over the years.

Ghulam Azad is the true Muslim Face of INC. He held many important posts in INC & is the longest serving CWC member of INC.

@AnandSharmaINC is the youngest and most dedicated Congress leader to get place in CWC.

Prithiviraj Chavan @prithvrj is the only Prime Minister material in Congress.

Why are G23 leaders demanding reforms?

- INC's electoral downfall started with its rout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
- President @RahulGandhi lost Congress turf Amethi to BJP’s, @smritiirani. This lead to his resignation & Sonia Gandhi taking over the reins as interim head.

- Perturbed by the dismal performance and prospects of the party, veterans decided to bring the attention of fellow members to the need for a change in top leadership and the importance of a democratic set-up within the party.

G23 Impact ?

G23 leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma and Kapil Sibal of the "group of 23", were not named in the party's list of star campaigners for the first phase of assembly polls in West Bengal despite their willingness to campaign.

A rally was held in Jammu, by G23 group of "dissident Congress" leaders to display a ‘show of strength’ against Congress Party leadership. They were unhappy with Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘North-South’ remarks & also over Ghulam not being re-nominated to the Upper House of Parliament

Ghulam Azad hinted at the lack of ‘reality check’ within the party. He has stirred the hornet’s nest by openly praising @narendramodi, for being connected to his roots. After praising PM Modi, he pointed out that the top brass of Congress has ‘lost touch’ with reality.

Anand Sharma pointed out "Congress alliance with parties like Indian Secular Front (ISF) and other such forces (in Bengal) militates against the core ideology of the party and Gandhian secularism, which forms the soul of the party"

G23 leaders complained that the party can't be selective in fighting communalists but must do so in all its manifestations, irrespective of religion & color. Dissenting Congress leaders plan to hold another event in Haryana, questioning the party’s election strategy in WB.

Recently, Senior leader & former MP, @PCChackoOffice quit INC ahead of Kerala polls. He blamed factionalism, lack of leadership. He also agreed with points raised by G 23 leaders & said it was unfortunate that INC is not able to find a leader since the Lok Sabha election defeat.

Amidst the chaos, @INCIndia top leadership maintains silence, while other loyalists slam ‘rebels’ on their behalf.
