Federer: "I knew Rafa was good, but he surprised me to some degree that he was so consistent, so good on hardcourts already so early. That really showed me he was probably going to become the world no. 1, Grand Slam champion. From then on it went; the rest we know."
Nadal: "I was afraid that he could win 6-1, 6-1 or 6-1, 6-2 but I was really looking forward to playing this match because I was playing against the No. 1 player in the world. I went on court with a positive attitude, not with the attitude of, “Oh, let’s try and win one game."
