Thread: This is out of pure frustration so forgive for being harsh. I'm really going to need all international observers, academics, journalists or anyone working on Myanmar profile to STOP speaking over us. 1. Saying people deserve this coup b/c of Rohingya Genocide is wrong.
2. It is unfair & unacademic. If you never lived in our skin, or at the least, had basic understanding of critical discourse, please leave the discussion especially if you've never consulted w/ Rohingya or ask us to review your conclusion. You don't belong in the conversation.
3. As outsiders, I don't care if you have studied the subject for the past 100 yrs, you still lack lived experience & your choice to misrepresent our truth WILL end up hindering our reconciliation process & hurt us. So please, no one will think any less of you if you leave us be.
4. Learn to work to amplify our voices as an outsider. I & so many from Myanmar have had enough of you dismissing us or occupying our spaces. I know western imperialism has socialized you into believing that you know more than us. You don't. Kindly leave when it's not your space.
5. If you've never worked to help strengthen the Rohingya community by working directly with us, continuously sought our consultation, prioritized our voices, or supported us in anyway through your work, this conversation on the coup and who deserve what is NOT for you. Thanks!
Conclusion: it's not a cause to help you move up the social ladder. The fact that there's a lot of attention around it is not an invitation for you to barge in. Just be sincere about it, alright?
