Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired a high-level review meeting with Chief Secretaries, DG Police and Health Secretaries of all States/UTs, with focus on 11 States/UTs reporting very high rise in daily cases and daily mortality because of COVID-19 in the last two weeks: GoI
11 States/UTs were categorised as “States of grave concern” due to high & rising daily case and higher daily deaths. These have contributed 90% of COVID cases (as on 31st March) and 90.5% of deaths (as on 31st March) in last 14 days: Government of India
The 11 States/UTs have crossed/or close to crossing their early reported peaks during last year. The situation particularly worrying in Maharashtra. They were advised to take up immediate and high effective measures to ensure containment of active cases and daily deaths: GoI

EC issues factual report on incident involving EVM in Assam.

Polling party 149-Indira MV School of LAC 1 Ratabari (SC) met with incident. Party comprised a Presiding Officer & 3 polling personnel. They were accompanied by police personnel comprising a constable & a homeguard:EC ImageImage
At about 9:20 pm, polling party hailed a passing vehicle & boarded it along with their EVM & other things without checking ownership of vehicle. As reported by them, they moved towards Karimganj&as they reached Kanaishil, Karimganj at 11:00 pm,they had to slow down in traffic: EC
As they slowed down, they were surrounded by a mob of about 50 people which started pelting stones at them. The mob also started abusing them and did not allow the vehicle to pass: Election Commission of India (ECI)
