THE URGENT NEED FOR A COMPETITIVE MEDIA INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA

Yesterday, I read the @StateDept report, saw uncountable angles and smiled.

@OfficialAPCNg-leaned media like @TheNationNews went to press with the #EndSARS angle.

Today, @GazetteNGR is giving us another angle👇
2/ In several threads, I've continued to advocate for a #CompetitiveMediaIndustry in today's Nigeria

As it operates in the U.S., Nigeria, particularly, during the First Republic (1960-1966), had a #CompetitiveMediaIndustry, when the Media leaned towards Political Parties.
3/ Nigeria's First Republic (1960-1966) had newspapers like the West African Pilot which leaned towards Nnamdi Azikiwe's National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC); @nigeriantribune which leaned towards Obafemi Awolowo's Action Group (AG)...
4/ Observing that Zik & Awo are majorly projecting the interests of their zones- East & West, via the West African Pilot & @nigeriantribune, Ahmadu Bello established a newspaper called Gaskiya Tafi Kobo (meaning- Truth is more than money), to project the image of the North.
5/ This period under review, the Tafawa Balewa-led @NigeriaGov, established the Morning Post which was its government ego-tripping machine.

Arguably, Nigeria Press in the First Republic had newspapers that were technically superb in their radical news coverage & rich contents.
6/ Former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson (1743-1846) said: "Left for me to choose between having a government & newspaper, I'll opt for a newspaper."

The world over, the Media act as the Bible & Conscience of every society. Their eternal writings are there to properly guide us.
7/ Without jettisoning the Social Responsibility main obligation of the Media, as peace of the bird (Media) is peace of the tree (Nigeria), Yours Truly, advocates that Nigeria goes back to the First Republic Press leaned towards political ideologies.

Nigerians need varieties.
8/ END- Globally, including the U.S., one of the key major stakeholders to democracy & nation building remains the Media.

I would like to see newspapers like @MobilePunch @GuardianNigeria @vanguardngrnews @THISDAYLIVE @TheNationNews, etc, trail the path of First Republic Press.

2027: Final Warning To Professor Wole Soyinka To Quit Hurling Mudslings At HE Peter Obi Who Accords Him Great Respect

For the umpteenth time, millions of Obidients at home and in the Diaspora are calling on Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, first son of Professor Wole Soyinka, who was initiated by Soyinka to the Pyrates Confraternity, and a one-time Commissioner for Health in Ogun State under the APC Government of Ibikunle Amosun, to call his father who turns 90 on July 13, 2024, to order.

At almost 90, Soyinka who must act as an elderstatesman must be compelled to stop twerking for the calamitous APC regime of Bola Tinubu just because of the pots and pans Remi Tinubu gave him to start life over when the military struck him, during the Abacha days.Image

Setting The Records Straight

Our team of researchers have digged deeper into the relationship between HE Peter Obi - @PeterObi and Professor Wole Soyinka to understand why the Nobel Laureate has continued to show disdain for Obi, despite the great respect he (Obi) had shown him (Soyinka) over the years, even dating back 2010.

As the founder of one of Nigeria's most deadly Security Threat Groups (STGs), the Pyrates Confraternity, Soyinka has continued to show himself as dishonest, claiming in his recent media mudslings that he knew nothing about Obi, until the days before the 2023 presidential election.

Hell No! In December 2009, Soyinka and Obi shared the same high table, lunch, and talked about other pertinent issues of governance Obi was saddled with as the Executive Governor of Anambra State, and who was seeking re-election at the time. Soyinka also supported Obi's re-election bid, considering his capacity to deliver the true dividends of democracy to his people in Anambra State.

That epoch-making event was the First Achebe Colloquium, held at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island, United States.

As recent as 2018, long before HE Peter Obi threw his hat into the ring to run for the Nigerian Presidency, Obi and Professor Soyinka were Special Guests of Honor at the Ripples Nigeria Dialogue, hosted by @RipplesNG in March 2018, on the theme: "Rebuilding Trust in a Divided Nigeria."

Being the Guest Speaker at the epoch-making maiden event, it was HE @PeterObi who presented Professor Soyinka with a Thank-You Plaque after his presentation. Even @abati1990 was the moderator at that event.

EXPOSED: Document Shows Peter Obi Beat Tinubu, Fashola In Educational Index

In Comparative Public Policy 101, it's apt to make comparative analysis with countries that are/were contemporaries (E.g. Nigeria and China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore) or people who are contemporaries (Peter Obi and Tinubu, Fashola).

Technically speaking, HE Peter Obi @PeterObi; former Lagos State Governors Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Babatunde Fashola were guber contemporaries.

Save for rigging, Obi won the 2003 Governorship Election in Anambra State, and should have been sworn in like Tinubu who was going for his second term, on May 29, 2003. Howbeit, the Uba Brothers rigged Chris Ngige of the @OfficialPDPNig in, with their Abuja connection and in cahoots with the Professor Maurice Iwu-led @inecnigeria.

It took Obi until March 17, 2006, to reclaim his mandate via the courts. All thanks to the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua who insisted that the Supreme Court must do the right thing in Anambra State, at the time.

By May 29, 2007, Tinubu exited office, while Fashola came on board. While Obi left office on March 17, 2014, Fashola left May 29, 2015. So, Obi, Tinubu, and Fashola were guber contemporaries and must be compared.Image

A public knowledge document entitled: Growth Indicators To Assess Low-Middle Income Countries," compiled by the Global Data Lab (GDL), an independent data and research center at the Institute of Management Research, Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands, unveiled that the Peter Obi administration in Anambra State (2007 to 2014), beat the Tinubu administration of Lagos State (2003-2007), as well as the Fashola administration of Lagos State (2007-2014), in every Growth Indicators used to measure low-middle income countries like Nigeria.

Obi beat the calamitous INEC-selected President, Tinubu and his god-son, Fashola, on six critical socio-economic and growth indicators such as:

1. Gross National Income per Capita

2. Life Expectancy

3. Human Development Index (HDI)

4. Health Index

5. Educational Index

6. Income IndexImage

Since Educational Index is the crux of this thread, let's chop statistics today by critically reviewing the performances of Obi, Tinubu, and Fashola while they held forth as Governors of their respective States.

The GDL document that is a public knowledge document even to lunatics like Reno Omokri, Femi Fani-Kayode, as well as jaundiced mainstream newsmen like @seunokin, and news orgs like @PulseNigeria247, @DailyPostNGR, @pmnewsnigeria, et al, revealed that on Educational Index, the Tinubu administration in Lagos (2003-2007) achieved a scandalously abysmal rating of 0.011%. The Fashola administration in Lagos (2007-2014) achieved a fair rating of 10.73%.

Both ratings of Tinubu and Fashola cannot be compared to the 22.5% superlative rating of HE Peter Obi- @PeterObi within a space of 4 years that was reviewed.Image

2024: Time To Properly Guide Seun Okinbaloye, And Identity Thief, Reno Omokri

Barely two years after millions of Obidients at home and in the diaspora shut down this super information highway with the lasting legacies of HE Peter Obi - @PeterObi, particularly his landmark contributions to the Education, Health, and Rural Roads Infrastructure in Anambra State, South East, Nigeria, it is therefore insulting to the sensibilities of Nigerians for a so-called @channelstv Editor and Podcaster like Seun Okinbaloye - @seunokin to allow a notorious identity thief and impersonator like one Reno Omokri - @renoomokri, run to town with the lies from the pit of hell that HE Peter Obi- @PeterObi neither built nor commissioned one school as the Executive Governor of Anambra State (2006-2014).

Recall in January 2015, an American woman accused Reno Omokri of stealing her identity and impersonating her, when he tried to refer himself as Wendell Simlin for some dubious reasons best known to him.Image

For Pete's sake, the 2023 general elections are over in Nigeria. Now is time for Nigeria's publishers, media executives, editors, journalists, broadcasters, photojournalists, and podcasters like @seunokin to dedicate all their time and media searchlights on True Governance issues.

The last time we checked, HE Peter Obi is not the calamitous INEC-selected President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu nor a chieftain of the APC who have further collapsed Nigeria's economy and GDP within a space of 11 months.

We enjoin Mr. Seun Okinbaloye to quit bringing on lunatics like Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala, Omoyele Sowore, Deji Adeyanju, Bayo Onanuga, et al. on his podcast or @channelstv #PoliticsToday, whose memo remains to continuously mudsling Obi, and peddle all manner of lies from the pit of hell against him, unchallenged.Image

For media traffic and impressions, even if @seunokin must bring lunatics like Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala, Omoyele Sowore, Deji Adeyanju, Bayo Onanuga, et al. to his TV shows and podcasts to discuss the lasting legacies of HE @PeterObi in Anambra State, he should at least adopt Balancing, one of the Codes of Ethics of Journalism, by bringing egg-headed Obidients like us to square and tame these BATidiots he brings on air, every Eke Market Day.

Hell No! Seun Okinbaloye would rather eat grass than employ Media Balancing in his controversial podcasts.Image

JAPA: Remi Tinubu Is A Hypocrite!

Our attention has just been drawn to a scandalous statement spewn by Remi Tinubu, urging Nigerians in Nigeria, including those with the means to forget about emigrating abroad, lying through her teeth that most Nigerians abroad are cab drivers, engage in menial jobs they are over-qualified to do, and wouldn't do in Nigeria.

Here was a woman who japa-ed with her husband to the United States of America 🇺🇸 in 1979, but ended up becoming a house wife whose account was used to launder the proceeds of heroin barely one year in the States. I detest hypocrites!Image
It has become highly imperative to properly guide Remi Tinubu, the "Jezebel of Nigeria," whose husband Bola Ahmed Tinubu illegitimately hijacked political power in 2023, but has been calamitous ever since, to keep quiet about things she knows nothing about.

The last time I checked, millions of Nigerians have been emigrating abroad since the 1800s, and have emerged as some of the best highly skilled professionals in diverse areas and endeavors of life- medicine, engineering, public administration, law enforcement, manufacturing, academia, etc. I stand to be challenged!

Millions of us abroad are not cab drivers and don't do menial jobs we are over-qualified for. That statement by Remi Tinubu is just a crass generalization. It's her level of thinking because she is a non-professional with no known career path like her husband.Image
Image
Without much ado, let me remind @RemiTinubu that there are over 15 million Nigerians in the Diaspora, who are scattered across various skilled professions.

Let me also remind the uncouth and unknowledgeable Remi Tinubu that in 2023 alone, the @WorldBank disclosed that Nigeria's diaspora remittances was about $20 billion.

Does Remi want Nigeria's Diaspora remittances to stop so as to fast-track the "violent revolt" against her husband's calamitous economic asphyxiation of millions of struggling Nigerians?

Those who personally know Remi should guide her to go back to the bedroom and kitchen where she belongs (according to Muhammadu Buhari).Image

#NewYear2024: This National Resentment Against The Igbos Must Stop!

In his book, entitled: "The Trouble with Nigeria," the erudite and distinguished global literary icon, Professor Chinua Achebe opined that, "Nigerians will probably achieve consensus on no other matter than their common resentment of the Igbo.”

Achebe traced the origin of the national resentment of the Igbo to its culture that gave the Igbo man an unquestioned advantage over his compatriots in securing credentials for advancement in Nigerian colonial society.

Among other things, Achebe pointed out that the Igbo culture’s emphasis on change, individualism and competitiveness gave the ethnic group an edge over the Hausa/Fulani man who was hindered by a “wary religion” and the Yoruba man who was hampered by” traditional hierarchies.”

He therefore described the Igbo, as “fearing no god or man," was “custom-made to grasp the opportunities, such as they were, of the white man’s dispensations. And the Igbo did so with both hands.”Image
Waking up to observe the Ethnic Bigotry trailing the #NewYear message of Senator Ireti Kingibe- @IretiKingibe just because it was written in the Igbo language, is nauseating.

The Congresswoman has come under intense attack over her #2024NewYear Felicitation to all her Igbo supporters in Abuja, and elsewhere, despite also sending out same felicitations in other Nigerian languages such as Yoruba, Hausa, Gbagyi, Esan, Ebira, Fulani, Ibibio, Tiv, Benin, Efik, Igala, et al.Image
Image
Image
Image
For too long, many of us have continued to be pacifists, enjoining all Nigerians to live together as #OneNigeria and one nation under God.

But it has become self-evident that there is no end in sight to the common national resentment against the Igbo Nation, which dates back the 1920s, following the 1914 Amalgamation of the Southern and Northern British Protectorates into what is today known and called Nigeria 🇳🇬.Image
