A young woman worked for  a merchant who lived on top of a hill. She worked as the merchant’s laundress and every day she had to walk down the hill to collect water from a stream. She had two pots to carry water, which she hung upon a pole she could carry over her shoulders
With time one of her pot got a slender crack along its side. She observed the cracks on the pot and decided she could still use it.

Every day, the woman carried those pots down the hill to the stream, filled them to the brim, and  walked back up the hill, balancing the pole
across her shoulders. By the time she reached the house, the cracked  pot would be only half full while the other pot delivered a full portion of water
The cracked pot glanced at the other pot and saw water filled to the top, and it began to feel desolate.

A man got frustrated with life. Despite all the hard work and effort, failure was all that he learnt.  Feeling defeated with life, he left everything and exiled himself in the woods. There he met a Hermit. The disappointed man shared is failure with the hermit.
“Give me one good reason not to quit?”- He pleaded the Hermit
“Look”, the hermit said, pointing towards two plants. “Do you see that fern and bamboo there?
“Yes”, the man nodded.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them water,
light and fertilizer. Within a short period of time the fern quickly grew from the earth”, the hermit continued.

“But despite the Bamboo seed being watered and nurtured for years, it did not outwardly grow as much as an inch. In fact, nothing at all happened in the first year.

Once a man was wandering on a deserted  beach in a lovely morning. The sun was shining and the sea looked amazing. As he strolled along the beach, he could see a man going back and forth between the surf’s edge and the beach. As he approached the man,
he noticed that he was throwing starfishes to the sea. The man noticed hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand brought by the tides.

The man was stuck by the apparent vanity of the task. There were hundreds of starfish on the beach and many of them were sure to perish as the
sun grew stronger by the day. But the man continued the task of picking up a starfish one by one and throwing them into the sea.

“I must ask, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”  he asked as he approached the man throwing the starfish.

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. However, the waters close to Japan have not held many fishes for decades. The fishermen, therefore, had to go further out to sea to catch their supply of fish and the fishing boat got bigger and bigger. Farther the fishermen went
to procure fishes, longer it took them to bring the fishes in.  So by the time they reached the market, the fishes were no longer fresh.

To solve this problem, fishermen installed freezers on their boats. They would freeze the caught fishes in it. This helped in preserving the
fishes for a longer period of time, but the freshness, as the Japanese desired, could not be retained. The price of frozen fishes started going down.

Then, the worried fishermen installed fish tanks. They would catch fish and keep them in the tanks, fin to fin. The fishes would

Foolish Monkey

It was a cold and silent night. The weather was freezing cold. A group of monkeys was on a tree. They were clinging to its branches. One of the monkeys said, “I wish we could find some fire. It will help us to keep warm.”
Suddenly they noticed a flock of fireflies. One of the young monkeys thought it was fire. He caught a firefly. He put it under a dry leaf and started blowing at it. Some other monkeys also joined in his efforts.
In the meanwhile, a sparrow came flying to its nest, which was on the same tree the monkeys were sitting on. She noticed what they were doing. The sparrow laughed. She said, “Hey silly monkeys that is a firefly, not real fire. I think all of you should take shelter in a cave.”

It wasn't worth much before the 4 lane National Highway came within 1km of our land , before we tried to sell our 2.5 acres of land for a mere Rs 20 lakhs for our only daughters marriage, but there were no takers then, now after the 4 lane National Highway has come there is great
