Where did the concept of NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) arise?🧵

The sterotypical NPC is described as a Soulless Entity, devoid of the Divine Spark who is "still plugged into the Matrix". It is an individual who appears to operate on autopilot without consciousness or freewill.

The concept of Non-Playable Characters originated in gaming culture BUT the idea is archaic. It's spiritual parallel can found throughout many different esorteric traditions.

In G.I. Gurdieff's Fourth Way teachings he taught that most humans were mere "slugs" with NO souls.

He thought most of Humanity were mechanical beings who LIVE and DIE without experiencing true consciousness AND following death the psychic energy of the unevolved is simply "Food for the Moon". Hence, like a magnet, the Moon draws Human Souls into it at the time of Death.
