In March I made $4,104 on my tiny YouTube channel.
My channel only has 3.7k subscribers.
How did I do that? Can you do it too?
Time for a thread πππ
I started my YouTube channel in June of 2020.
I've made 1 video every week since I started the channel.
It took me 6 months to get to 1000 subscribers.
It took me 7 months for my channel to be officially monetized.
When I picked my channel topic/niche I focused on two things:
1) What is something I am passionate/excited to talk about
2) What is something that is also very profitable on YouTube
The niche/topic I chose was finance/money. It has some of the highest AD rates on YouTube and has some of the best opportunities for sponsorships and affiliate programs.
Your niche is very important, but I will say a few extra things about it:
1) You can choose a less profitable niche and still do very well
2) When you are small (less than 10k subs) you can always pivot and change your niche
3) Don't let picking a niche stop you from starting
Another thing I did was consistently post videos at least once every week.
The videos I posted were chosen to do well in YouTube search results (2nd biggest search engine there is)
Every video I released, I tried to improve something to make them better.
YouTube is a long-term play. Most people don't become successful on the platform quickly or even in the first year.
However, if you stick with it, you can make quite a bit of money. With a lot of that money being passive income.
Videos are the gifts that keep giving.
Another thing I did is to start using affiliate links super early.
You can start making money with your channel LONG before YouTube approves you for ADs.
In March I made $2,499 with affiliate links. This is great for beginners.
To get AD monetized with YouTube you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours.
My first month becoming officially YouTube monetized I made $317 in ADs.
Second month: $960
Third month (last month): $1,670
These numbers don't include affiliates.
Affiliate links are something ANY size channel can do, and it will likely way outperform ADs on your videos.
What's the secret to actually making affiliate money with a tiny channel?
Video SEO
1. Pick topics/subjects that answer questions and that people are searching for.
2. Optimize your title, thumbnail, keywords, and description
3. Get ranked in search
4. Profit
A GREAT strategy for small channels that WORKS (as I have proven).
I really believe that just about anyone can succeed on Youtube if they approach it with the right attitude and the right strategy.
I know this because I am doing it now, but I have also done it once before. The strategies work.
Key takeaways:
1) Pick a profitable niche 2) Commit at least 6 months 3) Focus on creating content that gets into search results 4) Start using affiliate links early 5) Constantly improve your video quality 6) If you do these things, the algorithm will eventually reward you
