THREAD

Austin City Council frequently says "we can't send people back to the woods".

Many people are still there, Mr. Mayor. And some are emboldened due to your policies, creating a safety issue.

This video is from the Windsor Park area of Austin, TX.

There are criminal vagrants that blend in with the homeless and because Austin City Council has given the homeless de facto immunity and tied the hands of police, the residents suffer.

There are two people who are causing the bulk of the problems in this neighborhood.

"There started to be a lot more violence. We've started hearing reports of sexual assault, physical assault, our houses are being vandalized. We know for a fact that people are sneaking into the backyards."

Designate camping areas now and help residents.

THREAD

Austin City Council member @GregCasar during his testimony against #HB1925 to ban open camping in Texas, said the bill sought to punish local democracy.

He didn't mention he tried to quickly ram through homeless hotel purchases before communities could give input.

1/4
He also failed to mention the Texas Supreme Court ruled that he and his city council colleagues inserted biased, misleading language into a ballot proposition to overturn open camping. Language intended to bias voters against supporting the measure.

2/4
Greg failed to mention that he lets his advocate friends pack the city council feedback mechanism, thereby having an outsized voice on matters before the council.
