(white people love the notion of dysfunctional Black pathology, which is why they remain so invested in the “acting white” discourse. The credulousness toward that idea leads to some dopey conclusions that we could all laugh at if they weren’t so consequential.)

But for real: there is so much data quantifying racial advantage, so much history and sociology detailing how it has been created and maintained, and yet the retort from the people who don’t want to believe it is always just some anecdote
