Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan expressed his dismay in a Facebook post upon seeing the damaged Quincentennial decal stickers that were just installed over the weekend. (Photos/Junard “Ahong” Chan)
"We even had the lighting done just last Sunday and only a few days after, it was so easy for them to make fun of the hard work of the people tasked to install (them). I can’t just accept that there are individuals who are shameless enough to do this," he said in Cebuano.
The mayor said he will make sure that those responsible for the incident will be sanctioned.
The National Quincentennial Committee, Republic of the Philippines also condemned the act, "The Lapu-Lapu City Government has just inaugurated the Quincentennial decal stickers project last Saturday. Here it is now. May we all be good custodians of public property."
