1/ For years, the American Right has claimed patriotic symbols—the flag, the cowboy, the anthem—as their own. But something’s changing. This Presidents’ Day, protesters filled the streets, flags in hand. At the Grammys, a pink pony galloped across the stage. 🧵

2/ On Presidents’ Day, protests erupted across all 50 states against the Trump-Musk administration. Protesters carried American flags—some traditional, some altered with pride colors—staking a claim to the idea that this country belongs to all of us.

3/ But the streets aren’t the only place where this shift is happening. Earlier this month, Chappell Roan took the Grammy stage in full neon rodeo glam, riding a massive pink horse. And Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman to win Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter.

1) Changing your sex is the ultimate high-agency move. No one stumbles into transition. You have to want this. You have to fight for it. And in the process, you learn something dangerous:

You learn that you can just do things. 🧵

2) They can’t make us forget that. That’s why they want to ban it.

Transition isn’t just about changing your body—it’s about changing your relationship to the world. Once you take control of something that fundamental, nothing else feels impossible.

3) I used to struggle with change. I avoided paperwork, appointments, anything bureaucratic.

But transition changed more than my body. It changed my capacity to act. Now, when I need to navigate a system or face uncertainty, I don’t hesitate. Because I’ve done harder things.

1. Why does your passport need an “M” or “F”? It doesn’t. It never did. The government just made it up—and now we’re all stuck pretending it matters. 🧵

2. For most of history, passports didn’t include sex markers. Then, in 1977, the government added them—not for security, but because officials panicked over unisex fashion.

3. The policy has changed constantly. In the 1990s, trans people could update passports—but only with proof of surgery. In 2010, Hillary Clinton ended that rule. In 2021, the first ‘X’ marker was issued after a legal fight.

His army literally brought parade uniforms to celebrate their “quick victory.”

Now, two years later, Russia is stuck in a financially ruinous war it can’t afford to win—or lose.
