One thing the pandemic has truly exposed is how tenuous the concept of "shared reality" actually is. The less we engage directly with other people and their realities the more apparent it becomes that we're all crafting disparate narratives about what is "real" in our heads.
I think this is especially jarring if you felt that there was an order to things and someone "in charge" who made everything work at least a little. It is increasingly clear no one has a fucking clue what we're doing at any level of existence. And I'm cool with that.
And for my brothers and sisters who think that means we spiral into chaos and violence, I don't think that's right. I think we begin to self organize around smaller probably better realities. Like slow food. Farm-to-table realities. Mass social media will wane in this era.
