So, adults. Greenberg sent money to adults. Using a common app that people use to send money. Why are people acting like this is some sort of sex trafficking smoking gun?

The coverage of Greenberg — for whom prosecutors provide ample evidence of corruption schemes & financial crimes & very little evidence of trafficking— almost universally as a SEX TRAFFICKER is so telling. Feds slap this label on folks bc they know it can’t be outrun once they do

And media is so irresponsible with the label sex trafficker because it’s lurid & gets clicks. Then the same media marvel at Q cultists & moms who think traffickers are hunting them at IKEA & the nice progressives who give $ to help cops arrest sex workers???

The truth is no one would actually care about this case if it’s just some Florida tax collector who did a lot of fraud. So, per usual, reporters need to smear consenting adult relationships as deviant to sustain interest & do tribalism

1) see this thread from yesterday about Greenberg indictment. Dude may well plead guilty to sex trafficking (as many are reporting) if 17-yr-old exists. Whether he knew her age is irrelevant under federal law

2) This doesn’t change the fact that a lot of media is calling him an accused sex trafficker w/out explaining what that means/what is actually alleged while breathlessly hyping a lot of ancillary activity involving adults as somehow relevant

(Sorry, I just know if he pleads folks are gonna be like seeeee you were wrong, when no, I never claimed to have special insight into if the 17-year-old exists & was paid. just pointing out what the law says, what the indictment says, & how media hype contorts it all.)
