Newsflash: v8.60 for iOS is now available! Here’s the latest additions:
1. New selectable column for Removed Spaces participants - It’s now easier than ever to find who you have removed to follow up either offline or report bad actors that enter your space.
2. Invite via DM - It is now easier than ever to batch invite your followers to Spaces, by simply tapping on the user’s name in your recent contact list or by searching their name or username. (Redacted list for others’ privacy)
3. Subtitles are now expanded to include over 10 lines stacked at a time (unfortunately the new accessibility problems include covering over other participants icons within the Space)
4. A new control for removing people from your Space without having to block or report them. This applies to both listeners and speakers. Removed listeners or Speakers will now appear in the Removed tab aforementioned in point 1.
Now for the fixes:
1. Connections to Speaker now don’t disappear on connecting. Instead you will see the connecting state followed by the Speaker state, with no lapse of presence or visibility in the Space.
2. When sharing a Space Card via Tweet, the card will now appear almost instantaneously (it could also potentially auto-replace Spaces URLs with the card, freeing up the full 280 character limit to be used, enabling further room for promotion).
Bonus: Now for the things that have yet to come!
1. For Spaces you have not joined, you see the three dots, which allows you to report a Space, etc. Inside Spaces, this is not available from the same place. This should be removed from outside the space and added inside the space.
2a. Co-hosting or moderator delegations - if the host’s device crashes, losing the Space cuts the flow of conversation and it’s hard to reinstate that once ended. Other trusted hosts / facilitators can keep the conversation flowing beyond the lifespan of a host’s app or device.
2b. Co-hosts or mods can collaborate on adding and removing Tweets for the Nest, as well as adding and removing guests to the discussion. Current drafts for v8.61 would suggest that the delete function may be included, but a pre-approval moderation tool would be more useful!
3. Plugging in the Topics feature to the categorisation of a Space (for discovery). This is such a hugely underused feature on the platform in general, that could seriously help expand the discovery of Spaces. Discuss below!
4. Adding Spaces into the options for streaming using Twitter Studio and other 3PAs. This way moderation can be performed from a Desktop or Laptop and the metrics for after-show performance can be generated in an insightful statistical format. What tools do you want to use?
PS. @TwitterSpaces team, make sure to get your work for each new release added to the release notes every time! You deserve more credit than you are getting per update! Kudos for all the great work! 👏🏼🔥🎉 Got a few ideas that would take you to the next level! Reach out by DM! 🟣
Do you like receiving these updates and suggestions?
Until next time! Thanks again 🤝
