Words on the street say “Justice for Daunte Wright.’ His mother just spoke to us. She says he called to tell her he was being pulled over by police. Says the next time she saw him he was laying on the ground dead. @kare11

Large crowd now facing officers in riot gear. DMX playing in background. Community groups like “We Push for Peace” and “A mother’s love initiative” working to keep peace. @kare11

Crime scene tape still up blocking growing crowd. One witness at the scene described it as “heartbreaking” Says this incident is traumatizing for many, particularly during the trial. @kare11

Update from Brooklyn Center PD:

“BCPD initiated a traffic stop on Orchard around 2. Attempted to take driver into custody for outstanding warrant. Driver got back in car, officer discharged weapon, striking driver.” @kare11

Female passenger: non-life threatening injuries. Taken to hospital. Police believe body worn cameras and dash cam activated during shooting. @kare11

Video of Wright’s mother speaking to media earlier. She says her 20-year-old son was in his car with his girlfriend when the shooting happened. @kare11

Witness says it was “heartbreaking” seeing the 20-year old’s mother at the scene. She also saw the young man on the ground for what seemed like hours. @kare11

This woman says she was in the crowd of roughly 300 when tear-gas went off. Officers declared this an unlawful assembly. Group is here from earlier shooting where a 20 y/o was killed at the hands of an officer. @kare11
