Today is Chaitra Shuddha Padwa the first day of Shalivahan Shake 1943. In #Maharashtra and some other parts of the country it is the first day of the new calendar year. It is celebrated by erecting a Gudhi. #GudiPadwa #Gudhipadva
Gudhi is a bamboo stick with neem and mango leaves, a jari cloth (खण), traditional vessel - typically a गडू, झारी or लोटी of copper or silver on top and गाठी - a garland of sugar pendents available solely for this festival. This year my wife made the गाठी garland at home !
The rangoli is called Chitrangan or Chaitrangan. It is specially drawn during the month of Chaitra in the courtyard.

There were requests to share info about Sadguru Jangli Maharaj. Sharing information from public domain in this thread. Sadguru Jangli Maharaj was born in 1803. Some say that he was born near Hubballi, as per others he was from Baroda related to Rani Laxmibai's family.
He left home early and gained spiritual learning from different gurus. It  is also said that he participated in the war of independence 1857. Later he was seen at Rethare Harnaksha near Satara, resided there performing sadhana. Thereafter he came to Pune at Bhamburda village.
There he stayed near the Rokdoba Temple. He meditated at the hillock near Pateleshwar. The area was desolate with wild vegetation. He used to seek bhiksha in the village, soon people recognised his authority and began offering food. Jangli Maharaj frequently visited Dehu-Alandi.
