Basic three drugs antiretroviral inhibitors regime.
Survival of HIV patients have risen to ~ 55 years after age of diagnosis!
If patient has < 500,000 copies, and has no resistance, then a simplified 2 drug regime can be used.
Impressive! Parenteral HIV therapy. Two IM injections once a month with good viral suppression.
Novel HIV treatment - including monoclonal antibodies - the sky is the limit!
It is important to screen the hospitalized patient for HIV!!! See the percentage of asymptomatic patients who are unaware of the diagnosis - 15%!!!!
Strong consideration to initiate antiretroviral therapy in newly diagnosed HIV patients - it is a huge window of opportunity!
