Day 13 #DerekChauvinTrial thread.
Jury not in room. Morries Hall makes an appearance before the judge to say he will not answer any questions if called to the stand, pleading the 5th.
Hall's public defender argued that it could incriminate him in a 3rd degree murder charge.
ICYMI: Last week, Morries Hall's public defender Adrienne Cousins laid out the reasons why Hall plans to plead the 5th. His testimony could open him to a 3rd degree murder charge related to an OD death, as well charges for drug dealing, drug use.
Defense calls as expert testifier Dr. David Fowler, retired forensic pathologist.
Dr. Fowler is testifying, based on his analysis of the case information, that #GeorgeFloyd died of heart disease with contributing factors of fentanyl, meth and exposure to vehicle exhaust.
Dr. Fowler is now testifying about the carbon monoxide factor he believes contributed to #GeorgeFloyd's death (from the running squad car. GF was at the back of the car). He says CO attaches to red blood cells more tightly than oxygen & oxygen can't displace it. #ChauvinTrial
Info slides being shown to jury re CO poisoning.
Dr. Fowler suggests #GeorgeFloyd's blood should have been tested for signs of CO poisoning, but he could find no reference that it was tested in the autopsy report.
Prosecution now questioning Dr. Fowler. They're showing video and stills in which they claim #GeorgeFloyd was chewing gum, refuting Dr. Fowler's implication that GF had a pill in his mouth.
THREAD: Minnesota "non-profit" and NGO industrial complex [collusion and corruption]
1/ This has been known, but Peggy Flanagan recently publicly let the veil slip by revealing how much of the "state's" work is being handed off to NPs and NGOs.
2/ Many of those "non-profits" and NGOs get significant funding from the state and/or federal government (taxpayers) through grants, awards, allocations, etc. And, as we've started seeing more recently, through direct allocations from the legislature to their pets [vote harvesters], as we waved bye-bye to $18 billion dollars stolen from taxpayers.
Tim and Peggy can't manage their way out of a wet paper bag, as evidenced by the massive defrauding of government programs in this state, and complete lack of oversight and accountability in numerous state agencies. So, they hand off the bulk of their work to the NPs and NGOs, with handsome financial payoffs, in exchange for votes, which keeps them in power and the funds rolling out to the NPs/NGOs, and on and on and on in a vicious cycle of collusion and corruption.
That's why Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan were so panicked at that late January press conference (above) when Trump first tried to pause federal spending.
Watch the entire presser here: youtube.com/live/HUPPEO0lW…
Without significant taxpayer funds flowing to the copious NPs and NGOs in this state, the regime would literally have nothing, no base, no vote buying or harvesting networks. They would collapse. The regime's support is not organic, it's purchased.
3/ This is a new interview with @DataRepublican who has exposed the NGO grift on a national scale in the last few months. This will help you understand how deep and far this goes. She's now devoting energy toward helping DOGE root out the rot.
The @CityMinneapolis government is doubling down on supporting its status as a sanctuary city by funding/harboring illegal immigrants, as well as vowing to fight various presidential Executive Orders by clinging to identity politics/DEI, and "transgender" ideology and agendas, as evidenced by a message sent to city staff this week by COO Margaret Anderson Kelliher.
One way to push back on this is by denying financial support to the city by refusing to shop, dine, or attend sporting events in the city. When you spend money here, they win.
Not only will you deny them tax revenue, but when business owners feel the pinch of lost revenue, they may decide to push back on the administration. It takes work, but go out of your way to let businesses know that you skipped their business and chose a venue outside the city due to Minneapolis's sanctuary policies.
h/t @lizcollin for breaking this Thursday
2/ @MayorFrey also confirmed recently that supporting illegal aliens is more important than lowering your taxes (your taxes go up due to increased city expenses for supporting illegal aliens through housing, financial support, strain on resources, etc).
3/ Members of Congress urge @MayorFrey to put the safety of citizens over his virtue signaling for illegal aliens.
Minneapolis Police Update Policy Regarding Authority in Immigration Matters
January 16, 2025, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced today that the Minneapolis Police Department policy related to Police Authority in Immigration Matters has been updated. The policy has been in practice at MPD for more than 20 years and clearly states the MPD will not be involved in the enforcement of federal immigration law.
Chief O'Hara said the policy update is designed to offer clear guidance to officers during a time when community concerns are particularly prominent. The updated policy includes revised language, adds a section on MPD U Visa/T Visa Certification, and provides examples of acceptable identification forms, such as foreign government-issued ID cards, consular identification cards, and national ID cards.
“I recognize that the fear of deportation prevents some people from calling police in times of need or to report crime," said Chief O'Hara. “I want to be clear that enforcement of civil immigration laws falls exclusively with the federal government—it is not the job of the MPD. Any participation in immigration enforcement would have a chilling effect on our commitment to bias-free, community-oriented policing. I also want to be clear that the MPD will continue to address any criminal behavior that threatens the safety or wellbeing of others—regardless of immigration status.”
The updated policy explicitly states that MPD does not operate its programs for the purpose of enforcing federal immigration laws. It also prohibits officers from questioning any person about their immigration status. This policy aligns with Minneapolis Ordinance § 19.30 which prohibits undertaking “any law enforcement action for the purpose of detecting the presence of undocumented persons, or to verify immigrations status,” with the narrow exception of enforcing criminal laws related to human trafficking and smuggling where immigration status is an element of the crime.
