It’s worth noting that the National Guard (the military) is in Minnesota at the behest of the police. They are there to ensure police & property, not civilians, are safe. They’ve been weaponized, yet again, against Black people living under this oppressive settler colonial state.
The National Guard is making a decision to uphold & enforce racial capitalism & white supremacy. It’s also unsurprising because this is what they do around the world. The military act as an extension of US police in the global south, upholding & enforcing US imperialism.
The same things police do to us here in the United States, the US military does to Black & Brown people all over the Global South. This should never be ignored and we should always make these connections clear.
The military is a violent occupying force overseas and the police are a violent occupying force in the US. The former (military) ensures that the latter (police) has what they need to suppress any and all rebellions against the social order and to maintain the status quo.
These graphics that @Blacks4Peace put together help explain my previous tweet. The military ensures that US police have what they need to enforce and uphold settler colonialism through the 1033 program that we all should be working to abolish.

Reject these lies too yall. We saw this already when police murdered Oscar Grant in 2009. Johannes Mehserle (cop who murdered Oscar) also tried to say he “meant to use his taser”. We’ve been here before!
“Reuters documented 1,081 cases through the end of 2018 in which people died after being shocked by police with a Taser, the vast majority of them after 2000. At least 32 percent of those who died were Black, and at least 29 percent were white.”
Sharing this because I can already see another avenue for reforms to be pushed by politicians calling for “less lethal weapons”. No. We gotta reject that too. Less lethal is still lethal. People have also died from being tased by police.
In light of Daunte Wright’s murder by police these politicians & police are going to try and tell you that police “need more training”. I can’t urge you enough to reject that. They’ve been getting “more training” for decades. It’s code for: more money.
As someone who was not always an abolitionist and who was deeply reformist and pushed for reforms like body cams, more training etc, I can tell you these things do nothing to disrupt or stop police violence. Ever.
Just as many people around the nation are watching the trial of Dereck Chauvin who murdered George Floyd, Minnesota police murdered a young Black man yesterday miles away from where they stole Floyd’s life.
@jack, what happened to all the BLM talk? The "equity" talk?
@BlackNoChaser posted a video (that had been widely shared on twitter) and were told by twitter to remove it and they did. Twitter still never returned the account. Their new account is @BeBlackNoChaser.
@mcclure_dede was never informed of why we were suspended
It's also telling that @Twitter@TwitterSupport continue to suspend the accounts of Black people without any explanation for the most part, and no evidence of violating twitter rules (@BlackNoChaser is an exception but again, they corrected the error & are still suspended)
“He shot me and I still tried to protect him because the police be killing us” - @theestallion
This has me in TEARS. My god. Black women WHEW! We cant even fight for our own lives w/o feeling like we have to protect the lives of the people who commit acts of violence against us
I’m sick for Meg and ALL Black women who have been in this position where they’ve been abused and harmed yet still felt they had to protect said abuser so they wouldn’t be killed. My god. I just. I have nothing but tears cause so many Black women have done this
That’s why I want a better world for Black women where we don’t feel we have to protect those who exact violence on us. A world where we are actually protected, loved and cared for beyond optics and performance.. a world where our safety is truly a priority.
