In Karnataka, the festival is celebrated for three days.
First day on KardingaLu, people do mAri habba, worshipping of our ancient god of fertility, mAramma.
@noconversion All people go their native mAriguDi's and offer amma tambiTTu(type of sweet) lamp pooje and give their oppAs(sacrifices).
Second day is Ugadi, the day of worshipping water and sun.
All boys take eNNe majjana(oil bath).
@noconversion Home is decorated and worshipping is done accd. to the family traditions.
This day sihi oota(vegetarian food) is made and offered to clan deities and ancestors.
@noconversion Next day is hosatoDaku, where people sacrifice animals in the belief that their whole year will be peaceful without any problems.
There is a culture in old Mysore region of Karnataka called guDDe mAmsa(reserved meat).
@noconversion Here all book their part of meat before the festival and get all parts of the animal meat on the day of festival.
Nice meat dishes are made and all relatives join and visit their ancestors tomb and do pooje there and offer them food and liquor(if they drank when alive).
@noconversion They return home and do pooje, offer food once more to deceased people and to their clan deities (if clan deities are of vegetarian sect, then vegetarian dishes are offered.
Later all have a feast together and at the night time men's play ispeeTu(Cards)😁.
@noconversion In this way, KannaDigAs welcome their new year in a grand manner and follow their ancestors path.
